Who would be for AI taking over for SEC Officiating?

We have seen it in baseball with the strike zone and they are currently working on it for football.

For what purpose is it needed?

They would just put the data center in Birmingham so nothing would change.

Obvious reasons. Are you for or against it?

Just make the replays open mic like the ACC and it will be light years better.

Not surprisingly the only 2 nays are the Bama paid posters. Wonder why?

You serious? A bama fan would never want to give up SEC officiating in its current state.

I see no obvious reason for it.
Hell, you don't even need it for baseball. Just have someone watch the camera view.

Can we just skip to the end of this discussion where a bama fan points out that stats that show bama is one of the most penalized teams and an LSU fan says it's the timing that makes it all rigged?

I don’t know enough about how it would work to have an educated opinion.

I do AI and swarm intelligence based programming as a hobby. And I happen to be really good at it.
I asked you what specific role you would like to see them in, so that I could give you a real response and you couldn't give me one.
Because the job you will be asking them to do specifically has certain requirements to be met in order to do that function. Otherwise, the AI won't work.
Turns out, this is really just another LSU fans crying about the refs thread.

What is your experience with AI? Currently it has extreme difficulty with continuity and details. It would be humorous to watch people scream when they butchered the down, got the teams mixed up mid game, or awarded the defense a touchdown on a third down incompletion.

One way would be to analyze heaps of real time data to make better more accurate and informed calls. But it can and will do much more.

But give him credit for doing it in a creative manner.

I'd be for it. I could save on REC dues.

It would also use drone and sensory technology to clean up real time errors and protect the integrity of the game.
Imagine sensory technology embedded in the football and field delivering real time data in seconds and without a review from an "outside source."
I think everyone can agree the integrity of the game needs to be protected. Be cautious of those that don't.

I'd like to see us start with some basics first, i think people handwave AI when simpler fixes are available
1. chip the fricking ball , way too much is a guess in terms of where it should go or how far it went
2. as another poster said, have transparent officiating discussions
the biggest use case for AI would probably be on various penalties, but man I think the game would get bogged the hell down. maybe limit it to pass interference , targeting , and false starts first before exposing it to holding
also i don't know what happened this year in particular, but it seemed like delays on offense just were not called anywhere, this should just be called automatically

Instantly fixed with AI

It would be much easier than paying off all the individual crews every season. Instead we could just include it in the source code.
