UT should win the East but you have to think that Butch will find a way to choke. UT/UF winner is my favorite.

I think GA will be a tougher game for UT than UF this year. We play at GA and they have a chip for UT after they stumbled last year. It's the opposite for UF,,,they come to our house with a newbie at QB and he will have a difficult time in front of 1000 million UT fans. I really don't think the UT vs UF game will be close. But GA poses a different dynamic. If Eason gets comfortable it will be a tight game.

It is sad to see the rampant Homerism for teams that don't have much of a shot. UGA comes to mind as does UF.

Both will likely start QBs who haven't taken a -single- SEC snap.

UT is the favorite. Certainly the Media thinks so. Herbstreit picks us to beat Bammer.

I think we start 5-0. But we'll see.

I tend to agree with that.

UGA is a trap game for UT no matter if they barely beat UF, blow out UF by half time, or lose to UF.

I think Coach Smart will have the UGA players pretty fired up too.

The worse thing going for the Vols IMO is that they've been dubbed the favorites by so many. How many times have we seen that not pan out?

In the last 10 years, how many times have we actually been picked to win the East?

I googled Coach Jones.

"Central Michigan[edit]

Jones returned to Central Michigan as head coach in 2007. In his first year he posted an 8–5 overall record and a 7–1 conference record. Jones ended two streaks that had haunted his predecessors. On September 29, 2007, CMU beat Northern Illinois University, which was the first CMU victory over Northern Illinois going back to 1998. On November 6, 2007, CMU beat its chief rival, Western Michigan, at its home field of Waldo Stadium for the first time since 1993. He guided CMU to the MAC title at Ford Field in Detroit against Miami (Ohio), and led the team to its second consecutive Motor City Bowl. He was only the ninth football coach in Mid-American Conference history to win the championship in his first season. In 2008, a 31–24 loss to Ball State on Nov. 19 derailed the Chippewas' MAC title hopes, but CMU earned a trip to a third consecutive Motor City Bowl. In 2009 he guided the Chippewas to their third MAC Championship in four years after an 8–0 MAC schedule, the first time in school history the Chippewas went undefeated in the MAC. CMU completed its run with a 20–10 win against Ohio in the MAC title game at Ford Field. He left CMU with a 27–13 overall record and 20–3 MAC record. He did not win a bowl game, though his team won the 2009 bowl game against Troy, 44–41.

Cincinnati[edit]

On December 16, 2009, Jones was named head coach at the University of Cincinnati.[1] He replaced Brian Kelly, who left to become head coach at Notre Dame.[3] Jones had previously replaced Kelly at Central Michigan.[4]

Jones led the Bearcats to records of 4–8 in 2010 and 10–3 in 2011, including a Big East championship, a Liberty Bowl victory (31–24 over Vanderbilt), and he was named Big East Coach of the Year. Also in 2011, Cincinnati was the only program to win both its conference championship as well as the league's team academic award." - wiki

So he knows how to do it.

Brick by brick.

I know. "Not the SEC and blah blah." But still good signs for success this year.

We did win the East in '07. We had eventual national champion LSU on the ropes in the SECCG. Ainge threw two INTs to give that away.

That is when Coach Cutcliffe left for Duke. AD Hamilton panicked and fired Coach Fulmer and the rest is for the "Low lights" reel.

Driskel and Brantley had no trouble going to Neyland in their first SEC road starts.

This is stupid. Tennessee beat Georgia last year and should have beat Florida.

You could argue Tennessee should have lost to us. Between giving up the huge lead and Reggie Davis dropping a sure TD at the end, I would hardly say that was a decisive UT victory.

I think the problem for UF this year is that they come into our house entitled and thinking it's their birthright to win. Jalen ("Teez" or whatever else he's calling himself now) Tabor has expressed that attitude all offseason. They will be pumped to beat us but they don't respect us as an opponent or a program and respect for what your opponent can do is a necessary part of good preparation. When you think you can't lose you don't prepare for a lot of things, you don't work as hard in practice, the weight room, or film study and you get lazy. You could do that in years past and beat us because the talent and coaching differentials were simply too much to overcome but you can't be lazy when preparing for this team. They are too talented and too hungry. And yes, they are even well-coached despite popular tRant opinion.

UGA is different. They had a lot of success against us when we were down but they never developed the entitlement attitude that UF did. They will prepare hard for us, arrive ready for a knife fight and maybe some lowdown and dirty play on both sides, and generally give us everything they've got from kickoff to the final whistle.

They got that wake up call at the end of last season...don't worry about where our guys heads are at, they'll be ready to play.

How could you possibly know that? You realize what people say on message boards has absolutely ZERO reflection on what the coaches and players are thinking?

Tennessee will win the East unless we shite the bed. With Butch being our coach that is possible. He needs to be fired if he doesn't win it this year though.
