Apparently I AM missing your point, since it was you who said Mettenberger's numbers weren't all that bad and he did pretty well. Did I miss something, or weren't you insinuating he was close to Murray?

And, as for that win over Georgia...did you see the game? The game turned on a VERY questionable Excessive celebration penalty against AJ Green. Take a look at it on YouTube when you get a chance and you tell me if you think it was a questionable call.

You don't follow out program yet you're all up in a thread about Georgia making predictions and assumptions that are apparently based on nothing

I said I don't follow players or recruiting closely. I don't follow anyone near as closely as Alabama, but I read a variety of news and do watch games that my team is not a part of. I'm glad this discussion has become less heated. I can be objective, but I think we were both leaning towards our true colors. You're a Georgia fan, and I'm a Alabama fan and South Carolina supporter, so I have issues with your team, but I won't let that cloud my judgment. When you present good arguments for your team, I will leave bias aside, so we can reach an understanding.

And yeah we lost a good bit to the draft. I'm honestly not worried about that though. Jarvis is almost irreplaceable bc of the the way he made plays, forced turnovers, and had a knack to make clutch plays. Jordan Jenkins could end up being a better pure pass rusher than Jarvis when all is said and done.

Our two safeties will be tough to replace and we're definitely thin there, my biggest worry going in to the season. Tray Matthews is going to start and from everyone out of Athens they're saying he's going to be special. He's still a freshman though. I assume JC transfer Shaq Fluker will fill the other strong safety spot but he has no sec experience.

We have holes to fill but and we don't have the star power but I think that will be beneficial. I see our defense playing more as a unit and not a gathering of super stars out there padding stats. Many in the UGA camp fel this as well.

Well technically we beat them 48-3 but his point stands

Alabama is the only program in the SEC that regularly blows out the cupcakes, unranked teams, and fallen programs. They very rarely play average or bad teams closely. I'm not expecting Georgia to drop an East game to the likes of Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Missouri, or Kentucky. I'm simply acknowledging that they've played you closely in recent matches. That won't play into this season, but if those programs improve, then it's not out of the question that one of them could get a win over you soon. Similar things can be said for LSU if Ole Miss, Arkansas, and Auburn can begin to close the gap.

Damn you're a homer.

And we don't hate on Mett anymore than every other SEC fan base. We just didn't buy the bs you guys were peddling last year about him being better than Murray.

Wrong, you called him a rapist, and then you told another poster he supported rape.

He had the best numbers of any receiver on either team. He has the best hands of any receiver on either team. What am I missing?

In the game? You mean in the Georgia/LSU game, right? And...maybe. But Malcom Mitchell had 572 yards receiving on the year and played 3-4 games soley on defense.

I'll tell you what..why don't we wait on the game and see which of those two has more receiving yards in the game, shall we?

Um, I don't know, maybe the fact that Bennett missed half the season with a knee injury and Mitchell missed the first 4 games playing defense so maybe, just maybe their numbers are going to be skewed.

I suppose I was wrong. Actually Beckham had the best numbers of all receivers returning for either team.

So that means LSU's top two receivers were better than Georgia's top two last year. Hmmmm......

Maybe 167 is right?

Wish I could be as certain! For some strange reason, we seem to struggle against Kentucky and Vanderbilt....and Vanderbilt is no longer an easy game for anybody.

Yep. I have to agree. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised.

All this guy can talk about is the past and the scores/results of past seasons. He's somewhat knowledgeable of the SEC West teams, but doesn't have a good grasp on the East.

If we're going to talk about the past I'd say some dumbass shite like: "This is the best offense we've had since Stafford, Knowshon, and AJ Green in 2008, but we have the best offensive line we've had since 2002. We hung 52 on LSU in Death Valley in 2008 and I expect this to be their worst defense since '08. Thus, since the game is in Athens and all this bullshite from the past, I expect us to drop 60 to 70 against LSU in Athens this year."

How ridiculous does that sound?

But, hey, at least this has been an interesting thread.

I'll only learn my mistakes from experience. If I'm afraid to voice my opinions or thoughts that may appear asinine at times, then I will never learn anything. You can only learn so much from watching games. I've learned a lot more from the internet via news articles, comments, discussion boards, replays, and statistics. Watching a game rarely tells the whole story.

There are some positive things that aren't so outrageous that I could say about Georgia in this game. Someone mentioned that Murray didn't have a good running game and O-line until last year; both are expected to improve this season. Go back to the 2011 SEC Championship game. You had two drops in the end zone that could have made the score 21-0, and that was against the 2011 LSU defense! Your offense has improved, and it'd be a huge task for LSU to field a defense as good as 2011, but if the LSU offense improves, then it won't matter.

I hope my posts don't suggest that I believe LSU will win this. I'm not calling this game. I'll just watch it. If Georgia wins, then good for you. If LSU wins, then that's great for them. I'm looking forward to a great game.

uga
mitchell 40 receptions 572 yards played on defense first third of year
bennett 24 recptions 345 yards was out for year with knee injury after 5th game,
scott-wEsley 06 receptions 135 yards
conley 20 receptions 342 yards
mcgowan 12 receptions 150 yards
wooten 15 receptions 187 yards

total 117 receptions 1731 yards

Leave out the TE numbers at your own peril. I certainly hope Chavis forgets about them too because Rome is about to blow up. He made a lot of mental mistakes last year, but he has wonderful hands.

Lynch 24rec for 345 yds
Rome 11 for 152 yrds

new total 152 rec for 2228 yards

LSU
Landry 56 receptions 573 yards
OBJ 43 receptions 713 yards
Boone 26 receptions 348 yards
Wright 18 receptions 242 yards

total 143 receptions 1876 yards

Travis Dickson 6 rec for 73 yards

new total 149 rec for 1949 yards

NOTE LSU played one less game than uga.

If I missed a WR's numbers feel free to add to uga's total.

That is just the returning experience for UGA Like a mentioned before there is a bevy of talent salivating to take the field this year.

Malcom Mitchell had 40 catches for 572 yds while playing CB in UGA's 1st 4 games(he did have 1 catch in game 3&4 while at CB) & missing the Capitol One Bowl with injuries....

Mitchell...40 catches 572 yds & 4TD's in 9 games...

Landry.....54 catches 573 yds & 5TD's in 13 games...

Counting ALL receiving statistics for both teams:

Georgia 254 catches for 3991 yds.
LSU 208 catches for 2258 yds.

This would count receivers, backs....everybody.

Rushing statistics:
Georgia 525 carries for 2556 yds
LSU 527 carries for 2258 yds

I REFUSE to look at defensive stats.

Where is this great offense UGA Is claiming to have. LSU had more offense against USC and UGA scored 7 more points against Bama last year. This thinking that UGA has this potent offense is stupid. Your qb that you think is soooooo great, has shite the bed in 95% of games against defenses with a pulse. You have a great rb tandem and that's about it.

Yes, one game defines the season. Obviously since we did poorly against USCe we're an inferior on O compared to the mighty LSU O

I mean, Beckham's numbers for the season and per catch are better than Mitchell's.

But LSU fans agree ... Landry is better. He has the best hands maybe in the entire country.

Actually, Ole Miss hung 35 on you last year...and Ole Miss hung another 36 on you in 2010.

But I wouldn't expect us to score 30 points on you this Fall, either.
