I really like Meyer. I think he is the second best coach of this generation in CFB.
That said, this is not one of his top 3-4 teams as a HC playing arguably CNS' most complete team.
tOSU had an awful Oct, caught an overrated Nebraska at home with a QB injury, and beat an awful Maryland.
They were largely outplayed by UM with Speight not 100% and were fortunate the D bailed them out.
Of the top 5, I like Bama's chances best against tOSU. Jt Barrett is a talented player, but he is not an accurate passer nor would he have time to be. The OSU run game isn't strong. It would come down to whose O can perform better against whose D... I like Bama big.
I feel like this is almost makeup to tOSU for last year when they had a more complete team left out.
Unfortunately agree with all this

Meyer is a fantastic recruiter.

Bama will shut out tOSU if they play(keep them out of the end zone at least). I did agree with the poster who said tOSU defense would give Bama some problems, they are opportunistic and very fast sideline to sideline. I just see Bama's offense scoring in the mid to upper 20's.(well below their average) I see tOSU maybe getting a couple of field goals, and if they did get a td, it would be from their defense. Bama is at least two td's better than tOSU.

I don't think OSU gets by Clemson, so we'll have to wait for that one.

I'd like to get you guys in the semis. With a month to prepare I trust Meyer.

That means either Bama would have to lose to UF and drop to 4 or tOSU would have to drop to 4 somehow, without playing. To mean it is clear that Bama is 1 and tOSU is 2. I mean one loss in the best conference should be the highest rated one loss team. If this game even happens, it will be in the finals. I do understand why you would want it in the semis and if I were a Buckeye, I would too.

I could see the committee dropping us behind Washington and Clemson. They could justify it with them being 12-1 conference championship game champs.
Yeah, I like our odds better with the extra preparation time.
ETA: I agree it's clear we're 1 and 2 given the resumes.

Saban, Bama wins by about 10. JT is struggling with the pass and we have specialized in stopping the running qb this year. I think Tosu def is pretty good, we may run our power package to soften them up. Tough package to stop.

OSU shouldn't even get into the playoff. The most ardent and avid Buckeye fans would agree with this. They aren't playing nearly as well as they did at the beginning of the season, the play calling has been horrible in certain situations, and a run defense that can be gashed at times. The object of the committee is to pick the four best teams, most complete, from start to finish, offense and defense, and Ohio State has zero passing game at this point. If you can't pass on Alabama with efficiency, you ain't beating Alabama. However I don't think Alabama is "at least two TDs better" than OSU. I think it would be something around 24-14 or 28-17.

tOSU has the best record in the best conference. The committee is supposed to get the 4 teams with the 4 best resumes.(Their words, their only real criteria) tOSU has the second best resume. You are way overthinking it.

Nah, he's just a hater and can't stand the fact that they're getting in. There are quite a few of those on this board (understandably).

I also think tOSU could slip up to Clemson. I see at least one big game for Deshaun in the playoffs.
Bama vs tOSU I'd have to go with Bama even though I'd rather them lose this year.

If I was a hater I wouldn't be giving the Buckeyes any type of credit. In fact I give them a lot of credit where it's due. I realize that they play in the toughest conference and only have one loss. My point is factual though, that they don't have a passing game. JT Barrett has actually regressed from two years ago. He can't hit a simple slant pass from Ten yards away. They can win against teams not named Bama or Clemson I think. So if they are matched up against Washington in the playoff they could win. But going against Bama, Clemson and maybe even Wisconsin again & I think they'd lose.
