Just found out that Creed's lead singer is a big bama fan , he would be a good choice if he is free.

It is a production staff decision. They attempt to find someone of note with school or regional ties for the home program the majority of the time and certainly take host preference into consideration, but they have the ultimate say. If the Mouse is promoting something, you get a random picker. Or, the producers just want someone else, so be it. The guest has to be able to meet show timelines and avoid any professional conflicts with ESPN (Disney).
It is ESPN producers that ultimately select and manage the process.
You're welcome to say that, and folks are welcome to continue to downvote me, but I can say with absolute certainty that is wrong. When Katie Perry was the picker at Ole Miss, do you think someone at ESPN just had her name pop into their head because they knew that her manager was an Ole Miss alum? Hell no. Nobody thinks about someone like her and Ole Miss.
The host school 100% has an absolute say in the matter - ESPN could say "no" (it is their editorial right), but it's wrong to pretend that ESPN just picks and chooses and the school just sits on their arse without any involvement.
So, once again:
1. The host school is notified they are hosting GameDay.
2. The host school pitches their list of who they have chosen early in the week.
2a. The host school's sports info director and compliance staff work to verify schedules, check for conflicts, etc...
3. The list (in order by preference provided by the host school) is given to ESPN.
4. ESPN then says "cool" or "nah, not that person, but the other person on your list would be fine".
Now, if a school doesn't care and doesn't put in any effort, then sure, ESPN will just do the lifting to find someone.
But on this, I am 100% correct in how this process works.

This is not completely accurate. School choice/recs weigh heavy. BUT, ESPN has an agenda and will prefer/appoint hosts that promote their parent CO agenda. Or, if a producer thinks they or staff have something that will "play better" than the school recommendations, ESPN vote wins.
The rest of that list is essentially what I said, so I agree.
