If you allowed Saban to take 46 recruits a cycle, imagine what he could do.
He would be processing 24/7

But is Saban better than Butch Jones? That's the real question here.
That's a pretty stupid question, of course Saban is better than Butch Jones.

No doubt. Meyer is 6-1 in major bowls and 9-2 overall. Saban is 5-3 and 8-8.
korin i've grown quite fond of you. (no homo...kinda)

Then perhaps that's what you should be concerned with.

Meyer is a better coach than Saban.
I think Meyer is one of the best of all time and certainly one of the best in the game today, but I don't think its as definitive as you make it out to be. Both coaches have won titles at different schools.
Saban completely rebuilt LSU--DiNardo had some good seasons, but he was replaced when the bottom completely fell out. He got Alabama rolling pretty fast after it had been mired in mediocrity for the better part of a decade.
Meyer took over a Florida team loaded with talent and only three years removed from Spurrier. When he got to Ohio State, they had won ten games or more six out of the past seven years--the only down year being Luke Fickell's one interim year.
Again, an argument could be made for both guys as being the greatest today. For my money, it is Saban. I think he has 4-5 years left in him at Alabama. Meyer definitely has a better chance at Ohio State to win and to coach longer, so maybe a decade down the road, his resume will far surpass Saban's.

And perhaps you should grow the frick up and stop going on the rag every time someone suggests that Saban isn't the greatest coach in the world because guess what, SABAN ISN'T THE GREATEST COACH IN THE WORLD.

What Meyer did last year with his quarterback situation was way beyond impressive. I personally don't have a problem with anyone saying he is better than Saban. I personally think they are about even.

I never said he was. You were trying to get a rise by saying Meyer is better than Saban (which he may very well be) when in reality, you should be more concerned about the fact that your coach couldn't carry the jock of either one of them.

Agreed. I think he does a great job of masking their deficiencies while game planning to their strengths. I wish Cameron would have done the same at LSU this past year, rather than trying to run the same system they did with Mett, then scrapping the QB position altogether once they realized Jennings and Harris couldn't do it.

I think Meyer has to prove that he can coach a consistent program without the bottom falling out. Quite a few coaches can build a program, but can they maintain one? This is the aspect where Saban has proven to be far and away superior to Meyer.
Of course, Meyer still has time to prove that he can. Maybe he learned from his mistakes at UF.

Saban hasn't pussed out and ran to another conference.
Saban blowouts over Meyer. 2
Meyer blowouts over Saban. 0

Meyer pooped in Saban's mouth a mere 6 months ago, and force-fed him 2nds.
Meyer >>>>>> Saban
Meyer >>>>>> Saban

Not disagreeing. But it goes to show that "the bottom falling" out standard for Meyer was 13-1 followed by 8-5 after two Titles.
I think his biggest issue was that the, ahem, "character" of the players he recruited started to eat away at the program once St. Timmy left.
Also (and any UF fan, feel free to chime in if I'm way off base with this), I think he started to recruit a lot of national guys towards the end. Of his last two complete classes, at least 20 of the players were out of state guys.

My only beef was how he handled his "retirement" between the SECCG and the bowls because we would've had a legitimate shot at Bob Stoops. Sticking around in 2010 hurt.

IIRC something about his health or something?

I don't know. Charlie Strong talked about how bad the pressure was during that 09 season (and he was only dc). "We won over 20 games in a row and yet were having no fun at all."
