As a former D1 pitcher who has been through the celebrations, I don’t have a problem with it. Now, what I will say is that a well placed fastball or two high and inside at the next at bat is the answer for the pitcher.

Then you're a piece of shite.
Well this piece of shite would have had that arrogant a-hole flat on his back the next time around. That's how you stop all that grandstanding bullshite.
PS-I'll bet the a-hole was looking for a high, hard one when he came back around, too.

Seems like most of the folks on this thread have never spent any time in a serious dugout.

It's a game. Why do you give a frick about that? It's certainly nothing to potentially permanently damage someone over.

Huh? I have probably watched a 100 games this year. Am I the casual observer?

You apparently just don't have any concept of the mores of the game. Most of the kids around here, nor the others who never played at a higher than Little League level, just don't understand the game's nuances and code of conduct passed down through the decades. Baseball tends to be its on judge and jury when it comes to player behavior....always has been.

Now you're really displaying your lack of knowledge of the game and its history.
First, the batter will be looking for the high, hard one when he steps back in the batter's box if he's got the sense God gave a goat. Lastly, it's not hard to get out of the way of a baseball when you know it's coming...I can personally attest to BOTH those cases.
Listen, it's the same case when a batter starts crowding the plate. The pitcher's gonna move him back with some "chin music" or something at his rib cage. He ain't gonna ask him if he'll please move back a little.

You need to share this with a couple of the clowns around here who are getting their pansy asses all out of joints over it.

So now you are advocating a "brush back pitch" while earlier you were calling for a "#1 in the ear hole". Make up your mind because there's a big difference in the two.

Don't try to play the semantics game with me, son. You can bet your arse that batter was looking for something hard and in his direction, and you can bet his teammates and coaches reminded him, too. If you've EVER played competitive baseball past the age of 16, you should know this. Man, PLEASE!

If you did then you know what I mean..a "knock down" pitch is exactly what it says, and if you aren't familiar with it, especially if you're an older guy, then you don't know your baseball.

Like the one that hit Tony Conigliaro and put him out of baseball for a couple of years? When was that; mid 70s?

I just like both aspects. What i hate is...people that get upset about a bat flip or watching it leave. But if you have played ball then you know....pitchers do dickhead shite all the time. No one ever gets upset at that though. Thats my whole gripe on the situation. I love a good bat flip....i also love a good "put you in the dirt" fastball screaming at your chin hahaha
