In my opinion, people should cheer for whoever they want regardless of conference affiliation. It's nice to have our conference run the table or win big games (bowls, nc, etc.), but if you don't want to cheer for that conference team then that's your thing.
I'm not going to lobby for or try to persuade anyone to cheer for Bama because I don't think the outcome of the game hinges on whether you cheer for us or not. If you want to cheer for Bama because of the SEC then cheer for Bama. If you don't want to cheer for Bama because you hate Bama then don't cheer for Bama, it's that simple. For what it's worth, I did not cheer for Auburn when they played Oregon because I simply hate Auburn. They were the only exception though as I have cheered for every other SEC team in the NCG.
With all that being said, I also agree that a majority of Bama fans on here are idiots and come across as ignorant, misinformed, cocky, and whatever else you want to call them but there are also some on here that I would say are pretty cool. However, this can be said about any team that is represented on here.
But hey, it's a message board and crap gets said no matter what.

What i always love is when the rival fans cheer for you to lose your bowl game then when you do lose said rival fans always say "you embarrassed the SEC".....

The same people who will be cheering for Notre Dame will be the same people who would then turn around and blame Bama for ending the title streak if they were to lose. At least pick your poison. If you are cheering for Notre Dame then I don't want to ever hear you bragging about SEC dominance or the title streak or anything like that. Unless you are Auburn and then it is a different story.

If you value "strength of schedule" it'd make you look better to have quality opponents... if either of us became (insert name of the worst team you can think of) beating us would mean nothing. Who would you rather beat a winning team or a perennial loser?

You are absolutely right, short term. I have no illusions about Saban's recruiting being damaged this year by a loss in the BCS game. However, the continued success of Alabama only helps it. Auburn and all the other schools that compete for the same recruits are affected negatively by this success.

Look. I'm okay with Bama going 0-12 next season. But, once that does not happen, I will be happy to see them (any SEC team) finish the deal.
I want to beat Auburn next year. But, IF AU were to make the big game, I'll want AU to win it.

Just curious.. and maybe it's because I grew up in the Big12. My son graduated from Auburn, but I don't HATE Alabama. I'll pull for them in the BCSNCG. Is is the same I grew up hating Oklahoma? (still do)

My feelings wouldn't be hurt if every LSU fan decided to cheer against us if for no other reason than recruiting. There are a lot of big time recruits around the southeast that come down to Alabama vs. LSU. Both schools are sending tons of kids to the NFL, but we are winning championships now. That alone is a good enough reason to root against us.
