Patterson's salary isn't that much more than 2m, sure they have wealthy alumni but everybody does. Their FB program isn't a cash cow by any means.

Patterson has a VERY sweet deal. I don't know exactly what it is, but TCU big money donors were very serious and very proactive about trying to keep the poachers away.

Royalties are, supposedly, a big part of Patterson's package...

Ark hire was odd. I agree I do not know how they couldn't get Briles.
Ark needs OL to run his O.
OL that can roll DL better than NW
While I think he can develop OL - I don't think he can get the hogs he needs with the comp. down here.
Texas likely knows if they dont get Briles and Sum leaves for NFL in a few, Ags will get him.
Texas worries about how they look and if they will look dumb or not more than winning. It freezes them. They have done less with more talent than any sports program of any type at any level - anywhere in the world - ever.

Since its a private school I doubt there is an accurate figure out there
Briles gets a 5% skim off every Baptist church in the state. God gets the other 95% - good deal for both.

Probably Texas, they will offer Saban $10 million a year.

That's one thing I guess you can say about A&M - they've never worried about looking dumb. :)

Your quality level has been complete shite since that last big ban. I feel you lost a part of yourself in that time. It gives me the sad.

Look dude don't you have a huge game vs. Iowa St. to start hyping and setting up for - with the massive tailgates and media circus and all.
Nice Conference. Have fun with it. The rivalries, the tradition - unsurpassed. The excitement in Austin I can only imagine.

OPP full of feces. The last Head Football Coach to voluntarily leave A&M was Bear Bryant.
Sumlin will be in College Station for a long time.

Texas. Haven't you heard they're getting Saban?
WOAH!! WAIT!! Where did THIS come from???

Briles makes about 3 million. There were conversations between Arkansas and Briles, but in the end, Briles didn't want to do another rebuild--especially one out of the state of Texas. Therefore, we really never had a chance with him.
Not to mention that Baylor is building the new stadium, and as Shane alluded to earlier: Baylor has enough deep-pocket alums that they would have happily matched any offer we-- or anyone else-- would have tendered.
