Got to like the upside to Yeldon more than Lacy. I am sure Saban will be watching these guys close. I would bet Yeldon gets a lot of early carries and he will use Lacy more once lead is in place
I think eventually they may split carries down the road, but early on Lacy will probably get the lion's share. Around 18-21 a game.
Although in the first two games the other guys will have a lot of carries because they won't even be a contest. (Michigan can't hang with us. They don't have a QB, we will control the LoS, and if AJ can beat LSU's secondary with then no-named WRs, he should be able to find the openings in any defense.)
The Arky game will probably be close at the half, but ultimately Davis and Wilson together can't gain more than 250 total yards against Bama, if they do they don't beat, err, 285.
Plus Milliner locked down Greg Childs, so I don't see why he can't do the same to Hamilton. Also Mosley on Gragg. We just match up too well with the Flagship.

Shhhhh, Arkansas fans might hear you

I don't think he's going to be the same RB he was. He's going to be very good, but no one rushes on us. (Unless we don't prepare for their option
I think we have more speed than we did last year. Hubbard is much faster than Upshaw to contain the edge, Dickson on the other edge is just fantastic against the run. (Though we don't know how he'll do in a real game.) Nico is the best run stuffing LB in the country. Williams is a favorite to be the best NT in the country [though Jenkins (I think his name is Jenkins) was UGA will have something to say about that.]
If he can run against all of that, we might as well crown Arky the National Champions.

I didn't even respond to the area you quoted xD I know Bama can keep our passing game honest, but they haven't proven they can stop Davis. So I was curious to know why he thought Davis and Wilson wouldn't get more than 250. Wilson alone got 218 last year. I'd bet my house Davis can rush for more than 32 yards against Bama.

Nah, just kidding. Keith Marshall.

I think Davis gets around 65 yards, but he's going to need a lot of carries to do so.

I understand that, but then he was up against :
1st year starter Chapman
Not 100% Hightower
Marcell "I'll pass rush and be average against the run" Dareus
This year's Williams > > 2010 Chapman
2012 Nico > > 2010 Hightower
2012 Quinton Dial and 2012 Damion Square > 2010 Dareus (against the run)
Like I said, I think if they do surpass 250, they don't get more than, say, 285.
I think we dominate T.o.P tbh, which means either Wilson can't throw a lot, or Davis can't rush a lot.

quote:It will be interesting if they lean on the rush a bit more with a different playcaller and Davis in the backfield. That's what killed us last year. We weren't able to control possessions. We HAD to pass to keep drives a live. The Bama game is gonna be a hell of a ride.

Indeed. I still think we dominate the second half, but the first half is going to be a close game. I have it as one of 5 games AJ goes over 300 in.
The others :
Ole Miss
Mizzou
WKU
aTm
BCSCG vs Whoever suits up to get their arses whipped.

Everyone pretty much locked down Greg Childs last year, he only had like 250 yards since his injury. Hamilton scored against yall last year but you probably had your backups in at that point. I think Mosley vs. Gragg will be a good matchup.
Hopefully we don't give up 2 special teams TDs again...i really think that game last year was closer than the box score showed but that doesnt mean much lol

If lattimore stays healthy, then lattimore for sure. He's the most taltented back in the nation imo. Plus Lacy is going to split carries and I'm still iffy on Davis coming off of that injury. The only ones I could see beating him would be bama or LSU due to their oline's, but both will have crowded backfields

My observation the past five years of Arkansas football, great offense and not enough defense. The piggies need to keep running the ball to wear down teams....if they go 60% passing plays in 2012 that will mean they have a so so year..and Bama/LSU will be hard to beat.

Glenn Coffee split carries with Ingram and Upchurch in '08 and was still 2nd in the SEC in rushing behind Moreno. Lacy is not as good as Trent but he's better than Coffee IMO. If he stays healthy he'll have a great shot at leading the SEC. Of course, Lattimore, Davis, and Stacy are very good backs as well and could take home that honor, but I do think Lacy will be in the mix.
