For LSU Football I would put Glen Dorsey as an Icon:
2007-SEC Defensive Player of the Year, Lombardi Trophy Winner, Outland Trophy Winner, Lott Trophy Winner, Bronko Nagurski Trophy Winner and 1st Team All American. And finished 9th on the Heisman Trophy ballot.

LSU - gotta be either Billy Cannon or Jim Taylor
UF - among fans 35-55 I bet Danny Wuerfell is close to as popular as Tim Tebow. I'd still go with Tim, though
Arkansas - Lance Alworth
Bama - Namath was almost as much of a cultural icon as a football one

OP's list is trash. Should read as below and start a flame:
Bama - Bear Bryant
A&M - Bear Bryant
Kentucky - Bear Bryant
Toss up for me. I would go with George Blanda for UK, even though I really like Shipwreck Kelly's name.

I understand the love for Billy Cannon, also Kevin Faulk is an LSU icon because he was the ONE instate recruit that made it cool to play for the Tigers when he could have chosen ANY school in the country.

I'm 29 and Tebow ain't got shite on the most decorated qb in SEC history.

For Florida its interesting because while Tebow is a bigger name, hell he's basically the modern version of one of those mythical players from the radio days - Red Grange; if we're talking icons in terms of impact on a program it'd be Spurrier, though admittedly that's kind of a cheat since his primary impact was as a coach rather than as a Heisman winning player.

Look, love what Cannon did for LSU, but later in his life he committed a felony when he ran his own counterfeit operation. He went to Angola and is still there, just a free man and employed as the prison orthodontist. Still can't believe they let him keep his license.
LSU could be the following: Kevin Faulk, Jim Taylor, Art Cantrell, Tommy Casanova, Kevin Mawae, YA Tittle, Alan Faneca, Ryan Clark, Leonard Fournette(

Though the younger fans may not agree,Frank Broyles should be first choice for us.
