No it doesn't, you have to be consistent to rise to a top 5.
Oregon has been the most consistent top 2 or 3 program, but I am not sure they would be good year in and year out in the SEC, I think they would lose 2 or 3 every year.
Maybe LSU has been thw 2nd best actual team, but the record hasn't always indicated it.

I think I just showed you that LSU is #3 over that timespan.

FSU isn't even a top 5 team.
Maybe they aren't, but they don't have to play any top 5 teams the rest of this year until it's playoff time.
I'd rather we had an eight team playoff to force a team like FSU to play more top notch competition.

Oregon. FSU still has a ways to go. Auburn is still not even close. A&M might be better ran then Auburn right now.

went back and included LSU

Over the last five seasons? No.
Auburn is 47-19 from 2009-2013 with 2 conference titles, a national title, and a Heisman.
Texas A&M is 42-23 with a Heisman and 3 years of 2nd half choke jobs.

I feel like we should be disqualified after Saturday night.
Add Miss State to your list and this thread goes another 5 pages easy.

Look at the title. It's about now. Auburn has obviously been much better than A&M in the past 5 years but A&M, currently, is probably more of a destination then Auburn.

Then read the OP. It's contradictory.

prolly say lsu ... even though '12 is an anomaly for auburn, the other 2 years were 9-4ish ... and oregon got pummeled by lsu ...

Either Oregon or LSU if we're taking into account the entirety of the last 5 years or so.

1. FSU 1 BCS and a current No.1 ranking
2, Oregon consistently winning 10 or more a year
3. Auburn with 1 BCS and 1 appearance but there was 2012
4, LSU consistent 10 wins and a BCS appearance. also a conference title
FSU: Absolutely not. They play in a crap conference and usually shite the bed against someone in the ACC that they should blow out. 1 NC doesn't erase that.
Oregon: Consistent, yes. But winning 10 games a year consistently doesn't mean quite as much as it did in the years of the 11-game schedules and no conference championship games. You could almost plug in Boise State if you're using this rationale.
Auburn: 2011 and 2012 knocks you guys out. As does Chizik's dental smock.
LSU: You know...this might be the candidate to qualify as the #2 program even though they haven't won a NC since '07. Either LSU or Stanford, maybe.

I give FSU credit though on their OOC schedule they got Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, & Florida and I can't blame them for the ACC (which is arguably still the worst P5 conference) I just don't think they've proven themselves this year.

Good point. Upon reconsideration, their OOC schedule is far better than most schools.
