LSU is actually a pretty big Ag school. You should know that. It's technically LSU A&M.

I have no idea. I do know that Texas Tech is all tortilla and no barbacoa.

Most of those "fans" are from years ago, and are graduates. Nobody cares in Austin these days, which is more a statement of the city than the student body.
Didn't Texas have a higher attendance average than a&m last year?

This is an odd hill to die on.

Formula One, ACL is now two weekends, etc.
Very thankful that there is no ACL during a home game this season. Only OU and then the bye week that follows. That would also take a huge chunk out of the student population at games.

That's fair. There are a lot of factors but it's not like it used to be for sure.

This is so odd. I keeping reading posts like this assuming we don't know we have done jack shite since 2010. We know..ok...we know. No one is disputing that. In fact, over the last 13 years I'd say we've underachieved more than any program in the country.
Can we now move past the assumption that we somehow don't realize this?
You do make a point...I shouldn't accuse aggie and pig of underachieving. You have to achieve before you can underachieve.
I was wrong. We are clearly 1st.

Until recently UGA and Texas were kindred spirits in this regard. As a 50 year UGA fan or any reasonable UGA fan would admit nobody had nothing on UGA when it came to underachieving LOL. We were as good at it as good gets. I actually am in a unique position as far as SEC fans go in that I know a good many Texas and Oklahoma fans and more of them agree with your post than not...but it is still fun to sterotype UT fans and pretend that they are clueless...and there are a lot of UT fans who do seem to be that way but I can't say its more than any other fan base.

Amazing what the right hire can do with the support needed from the administration. I'm losing faith we'll ever find that "right" hire but one can hope.

You had the right hire in Mack Brown, and kicked him to the curb. He owned state recruiting at a level nobody has been able to replicate.

He changed the recruiting landscape in Texas.

That was true until it wasn't.

Mack did have an era of getting whoever he wanted in the state of Texas for approximately 10 years. Then the program got stagnant, other teams from outside the state such as Alabama and Ohio State started getting studs from Texas regularly, and the team itself was underperforming.

In hindsight, the Mack departure could've been handled slightly more gracefully, but by both parties. Where Texas screwed up was hiring a replacement in Charlie Strong that set the program back at least twice as long as his tenure (probably more)

Mack got lazy and that was his downfall. We haven't done better since but that doesn't mean he didn't deserve to go. One NC only buys you so much. Had we beat bama in 2010 he could have stayed as long as he wanted.

Colt getting hurt sure seemed to screw up Mack Brown. He felt he needed to change his whole offense to be more like Alabama.

He didn't need to do that, and probably made things worse trying to jam a square peg into a round hole. Them Austin boys aren't built to play power football.

you nailed it. His attempt to "be more like Alabama" was the biggest mistake he made here (other than becoming lazy but I think that also goes back to losing that game).

we sure seemed to do just fine against you and every other team not named oklahoma. They had our number. The problem was Mack trying to be like Bama while letting recruiting on our offensive line go down the shitter. You don't play power football with a shitty OL....although I think you have the better team/program right now.

Hookem - you seem pretty decent for a horn fan. I'm going to guess you are a little older than the orange turds like XWing and Matts. I still have some friends from the Mack Brown era, but I'm not a fan of the newer generation in Austin ...

Same goes for BevoBucks. I think I'd actually buy you a beer in real life.

Have to learn to separate internet posters from real fans most of the time. I've been going to horn games since the 80s and I have rarely had an issue with a Sooner or Aggie fan in either stadium (Dallas in OU's case). I have fun screwing with fans on this board but in real life I have many friends who went to Oklahoma and A&M.

I was at A&M during the Coryatt years, so a little older than you. I have plenty of friends that went to Texas. I went to high school in Round Rock

Good point. In the post-Mack era, they were utterly decimated in each of their last contests against Alabama and Georgia...

North Austin is unrecognizable. Frickin Jarrell, Thrall, and Lago Vista are even being absorbed into the metro.
