Because Arkansas was winning SEC and national titles before 2001. LSU was probably still way better. Sorry, Arkansas is just what it is.

I vividly remember my first trip to Tiger stadium in 1999. You’re little team had maybe three or four wins that day. I showed up for an afternoon kick, and there might have been 35k in that dump! Hell, there was enough room left over for a Dixie chicks concert. At one point , I went down to get a coke at the concession area( no line ) and some lady walked up to me and said” I hope y’all take it easy on us today...”

You don't fire a coach that is 36 days away from being $3-4 million cheaper to fire, without an AD in place to do the search and hire, unless somebody somewhere has his successor lined up and ready to go. I have no idea who Arkansas is going to name as their next head coach, but I have to believe they feel they have a solid agreement with this gentleman already.
