I really don't know what constitutes a blue blood. What are the qualifications?

Mine is a blue ball program. We've come close to reaching the promised land a few times, but have never sealed the deal....and it's getting more painful with each passing season.

Edit - the main reason I created this thread was to pinpoint the douchebags that not only use the term "blue blood", but also consider their school to be one.

I’m sure this post will get plenty of hate, but here’s a statistical breakdown:

In order to be considered a blue blood, you had to win a bunch of games in the 1950s.

Something tells me no one here will have a problem with Nebraska being on that list.

Like it or not, makes no diff. The SEC just gained 2 bluebloods and it would have been silly at best, negligent at worst to allow us to move to any other conference.

In your favor I'd argue blueblood status shouldn't be a forever thing, Harvard, Yale and other Ivies were the OG's and where the moniker came from. In my opinion 2 consecutive decades of irrelevance should put teams at least on the hot seat to be replaced, but I don't make those decisions. Nebby is for sure closing in on irrelevance, USC as well, and yes my own Longhorns would be in our second bad decade if it weren't for last seasons conference championship and playoffs.

Once again, I don't make the rules so the current bluebloods may have lifetime membership.

More like 20s and 30s, and then kept winning long after that. No one's talking about Minnesota or Pitt

I'm sure, but what others don't understand is that no one can "join" but you can absolutely fall out, and Tennessee is a great example of that

When you are a fan of a 4th rate program in Missouri easy to understand how you are clueless on what a blueblood is.

That chart has nebraska as a blue blood. I would argue that all of their blue blood, bled out 25 years ago. They've got Runza juice coursing through their veins maybe, but not any blue blood.

You are right, of course. It would be like me expecting a Mississippi man to know basic math skills.

If we all collectively agreed that Nebraska has lost blue blood status, they’d just gain it back anyway as soon as they have an upswing.

I will say this for Texas, you ushered in the beginning of the end of the big red machine, when you upset them in the inaugural Big XII championship game in St Louis. Good work.

Screaming about recent national championships just shows you don’t know what the phrase means.

LSU was not at the table when the badges were given out, but you’ve done well lately and we’re proud of you.
