Billy Brewer was a national treasure

he used to walk around at practice with his shirt off and had his dog on a leash with him

You left out possibly the most successful coach in the history of college athletics. John McDonnell. Over 40 national championships numerous all Americans and Olympic champions.

true

and Norm and DVH in baseball

Norm and DVH both had runner up to natties

I can't get why John McDonnell died so young - I know he was 82, but a guy like that, you'd think he'd live to be 100

ETA: oh I guess it was prostate cancer

that crap is probably going to get me

that’s fair.. I was young when Akers was the HC and imo he gets often overlooked, but you are right..

O - he needed to leave but I liked him

I agree, but I'm going with Abe Lemons strictly due to his one liners. " I'm gonna buy a glass bottom car so I can see the look on Deloss Dodds face when I run over him on my way outta town.

AND I'm not bother by being fired but it does hurt that it was done by a track coach.

I said like. Muschamp was very, very likeable. I did not say rank results or how good they are/were. Muschamp cracked me up and I liked the guy..just nit the results on the field.

Hard to pick for UGA, we've only had 7 since 1939.

Staying on the Shug bandwagon. One of the more unknown stats for Shug is that he was the head basketball coach at Auburn and a for a short stint at Georgia! Imagine having Kiffin or Oats coaching a different sport at the same school once the season ended. He never held simultaneous head coaching positions, but he was assistant and head in the same years.

In the biography of Shug, it was noted that one of Shug's good friend's told him that he was a better basketball coach than a football coach, but he was glad he chose football. The friend's name was Adolph Rupp.

Shug was a star basketball player in his day, and also lettered in football and baseball.
