Yes, Bama has worn white helmets more recently as well. I want to say they wore them at times under Perkins as well as Curry.

I think they wore them once under Perkins but never under Curry. Yet another reason I like Bill Curry.

Speaking of that, Curry also had Bryant's old tower restored and put back up over the practice field, after Perkins had it torn down. Can you imagine the pitchfork carrying mob that would have descended on Tuscaloosa if Curry would have been the one who tore it down? Friggin' double standard for "Bear's Boys" still makes me sick....

I know corporate sponsorships are a big deal and $1.2M is nothing to sneeze at,but I can't believe Alabama let Procter & Gamble talk them into wearing these for the UT-Chattanooga game.

Some people without a life from time to time wonder what Bama helmets would look like white. Here is a video from 1971 with Bama vs USC with white helmets...

did they wear white cause they were no black players on the Gump squad? just curious

Alabama did have a black player on that team that played in that game in 1971, John Mitchell.

so that's not the game with all the hoopla about race relations? what year was that then? 70?

eta: or did the Bear just want the ability to recruit MORE black players?

Those white helmets look like crap, IMO. I like the Crimson much better.
