My response was in the justification of losing the games simply because they were bowls.

It's valid in the sense that you don't get many opportunities to rack up wins while one of the teams is in a 15 year slump.

There just a statement that when teams meet up in the postseason in (assumed to be) highly ranked matchups - winning percentages surrounding 50% are a reasonable expectation / outcome when taken in aggregate.

No justification, just a simple statement as to why the stats aren't terribly surprising - as an answer to the OPs question.

Since 2011, Alabama is the only FBS team with 100+ wins (they have 103).

Only 3 of those teams have been relevant the past decade.

Ohio State
Oklahoma
Alabama

Who else? I guess you could say Notre Dame, but both times they supposedly had a legit team, they got blown out.

Who else would you say?

However, to answer your question, the most surprising stat about Alabama for me is the number of National Championships they have piled up the past 10 years.

I love these all time stats threads. Really gives the impression of being a football powerhouse, and takes the focus off of the epic beat downs the horns have suffered for the past decade. It also distracts from the pain of getting your asses kicked by Maryland in back to back years.

Seriously, is there a more consistently overrated "blue blood" than Texas?

Nobody does less with more than Texass. Biggest athletic budget in the NCAA, flagship of one of the most populous, football crazed states in the country, and you have a few trinkets of hardware to show for it. All hat, no cattle.

Nice try.

It basically says 7 of the 8 blue bloods shared conferences with each other or played each other over and over again.

Texas/OU/Nebraska
ND/USC/Michigan
Ohio State/Michigan/Nebraska

LOL @ still counting Nebraska - that might be the weakest claim.

Interesting that Penn State isn't included... but have more wins than USC.

Alabama shares a conference with #10, 11, 12, and 13 programs with the most wins (#10 is a yearly rival, 12 and 13 share a division with them).

But yeah. "Blue Blood"

This is what happens when your coach calls a 'speed option', and you don't have enough speed to execute it. McCoy should have been two steps beyond the area of contact.

That they have had 11 undefeated seasons. That is pretty crazy. Of course Auburn has had 12 but 11 is still a lot. Lot harder to go undefeated than get imaginary titles. Crazy that as good as Saban is he has only had 1 at Alabama.

Bless your widdle Longhorn heart. I am 61 years old, and in that time, FSU has won as many NCs a Tejas. 3 bitch! Wanna check out Bama’s titles?

That they only have one Heisman Trophy winner in their long and storied history is astonishing.

Kids in college today have no idea that Nebraska, ND, and Michigan are blue bloods unless they’ve been told so.

Texas might be added to that list here soon. This year's freshman class were only 8-years-old the last time Texas was relevant.
