But would 3 losses be a bust for Bama? Not really. 9-3 would be plenty good in an offensive rebuilding year. Considering the schedule (which lacks Florida and Georgia) I think they would have to AT LEAST go 8-4 for it to start being considered a letdown. 7-5 or worse for it truly be considered a "bust". A 5-loss season would likely include 4 losses among VT, LSU, OM, Ark, SC and 1 "shocker" like Tennessee, UK, Auburn or MSU.

You just insulted Jerry's intelligence very badly.

9-3 in a rebuilding year for our offense would not be bad.

Provided of course those 3 defeats are not to LSU, UT, and AU!

Like i have been saying, we routinely subbed(at least once per D series)7-9 DL in just about every game. The only thing that Powe lacks right now is Jerry's leadership. And that will come with experience.

He's a much better Athlete than Peria.
If Marcus, Greg, and Kentrell can step up and lead the D-line, we'll actually be improved on the DL.

Bust by the fanbase's expectations or by the media at large?

Alabama will have a good season but not great. Their defense will likely be top 10 in most categories, but a green QB with only a single true target and a No.2 RB behind a reshuffled O-line, I can't see the offense putting up more than 15-20 a game against VT or in SEC play.

Ole Miss I hope to fall flat on their faces. The losses of Oher and Jerry are huge, and if Hardy doesn't step up like everyone claims he will, the secondary is going to be under a lot of pressure all season. Like it or not, I'm convinced that Jerry was nearly single-handedly responsible for the beatdown we received last year. Then again, the Rebel's FBS-laden schedule makes it damn near impossible to not go at least 8-4 and getting Arkansas, Alabama, and LSU at home works to their advantage.

LSU's expectations are sky-high this season, and our schedule is brutal. Then again, I can't see any losses outside of Florida, Alabama, and Ole Miss. The secondary will be fierce, Nevis and Alem will be All-SEC and the offense will be as productive it was last year and should see far fewer turnovers.

Florida is loaded and has all the tools to make it happen, but I think anyone would think that the preseason No.1 not making the National Championship would be have to be the biggest bust with the pedestal they've been placed on. If they don't win the SECCG, IMO, it'll completely overshadow anyone on a national attention stage. Then again, the only regular season game that I could see them losing is in Baton Rouge, so unless they get complacent...

I can't really say the expectations of anyone else in the SEC is such that a 7-9 win season could be considered a bust.

Tennessee - Laney Kiffers is a douchebag, and his players will know it and show it on the field.

Peria Jerry was a huge key to our success last year, but you don't get beat 31-13 by a single Defensive tackle.
Peria dominated that game, though.
He was being held the entire time. I've seen video of him being held by white dude and tackling charles scott a yard deep with one arm.

I can't honestly tell you what happened in that game. It's one of those things that simply should not have happened. Our offense WAS completely shut down by a single DT. On the other side, I was actually impressed with the way our defense handled most situations. Snead just made some incredibly sick throws that I don't think any other QB in the country could have made. Hell, HE shouldn't have made them, but the placement was nothing short of perfect.

If Snead or Jerry don't have the games they did, I honestly think that game goes the other way.

Jerry could have had a bad day, and we still would have won.
If Snead has an average day and Jerry has an average day, it would have been a toss up.
If Snead has a bad day, you probably would have won.

People underestimate how good the rest of our defense is.
Our Db's started out the season crappy, but by the end of the year, they were among the best in the country. One of the reasons is that Marshay Green was a WR the year before and was playing corner for the first time in his life.

or Wallace
or Hodge
or Bolden
or Eason
or Hardy
or Lewis
or Oher
or Lockett
or anyone on our team

We dominated in every aspect of the game.

Why do you let your hate of Ole Miss override your logical thought processes?

They did start out bad and improve greatly, but they were not near the best in the country. I think we'll be about middle of the pack in pass defense this year in the SEC.

Going to have to agree with you. We were absolutley awful that game.

Not to mention that was the most frustrating game of my life. Drove down from Jackson to stay with some friends and go to the game. Someone bought me a student ticket to get in to the game but the student ID that was given to me to use was not a full time student. So I couldn't get in, wasted thirty bucks on the ticket, wasted all the money for the trip, and then had to sit in a bar and watch the game. On top of that, some douchebag Ole Miss fan was in there watching it. I overheard him say that he had tickets to the game, but got to his seats and they were too HIGH so he left the game!

You can't forget how our 2nd string WR's played. Breaux scored a TD on a WR Reverse and had a great catch where he spun out of 2 different DB's for like a 40 yard gain.

If our pass rush is as good as advertised, our DBs will continue their late-season success, IMO.
