See above. I told you that you had triggered the Hogs fans! They’re coming for you now, bro. Better watch your back.

(FWAA) Alabama did not receive a single vote for first, second, or third place.

Vandy, Miss St, Mizzou and South Carolina have 0 claims, but it should be noted they all have atleast 1 claim, sometimes 2 or 3 if they were to make the type of claims others are making here. So shout out to these schools for keeping it honest.
I claim 1941

Oh man, now you’ve done it. You just triggered tf out of LSU 2003 fans. Loving this shite slinging between Arkansas and LSU fans in this thread- did not see that coming.

Two pieces of the system. The other 7 disagree.
What other 7? The system of the time was AP or UPI/Coaches poll. If you start bringing in other pieces then you legitimize Alabama's bogus 1941 Houlgate National Championship and Auburn's 2004 Golf digest National championship claim for that matter.

The Hogs are welcome to claim anything they want but they would be the only school outside of UCF to claim a title after WWII that isnt AP/UPI/BCS or CFP.
*Yeah I was really wrong about this. Lots of schools have done it

So you are going back to my original statement. You want to claim it based off groups that got together decades later and their "feelings" were that Arkansas was number 1. Claim whatever you want, but why take away from a team that was awarded by what was the standard at the time.

Check out the link I posted above. It discusses the season the bowl games and all the organizations recognized by the NCAA as who ended up as the legitimate #1 for 1964.
Bama fans should enjoy the story on the 64 Orange Bowl. Texas never crossed midfield after halftime. But it ended up with Bama being stuffed 4 times at the Texas goal line. Namath swears he got in on 4th down.

That’s actually a great effort above. I’ve wondered about this issue many times (more from a cutoff of around 1960 when we were solidly in the poll era) but have never seen the list and didn’t have the patience to research. Is that more or less comprehensive do you think?

I think that's everyone who currently plays FBS football who claims something post WW2 that's not AP or Coaches.

Appears I was wrong. WTF is with Ohio State claiming 1970 for instance?

I’m pretty sure they ended that season with a loss as well

The College Football Researchers Association was founded in 1982
The National Championship Foundation was founded by Mike Riter of Germantown, New York. They retroactively selected national championships by member vote for every season through 1980.
Those are listed as who awarded them the National championship. Plus those 5 random sports writers who had their "feelings" on who it should be.

National Football Foundation and their goofy trophy that now permanently resides in the CFBHOF.

So you think a poll that didn't even exist until 16 years later is #1?

This is hilarious considering we could claim several titles under the same way Bama did. We just have pussy admins not willing to do so.
Name them.
