The journalists: #2 with 21 first-place votes

The coaches: #4 with 2 first-place votes

I say the former

I don't think there are three teams that have looked more impressive than Bama at this point.

Bama is the best team in the country as of today.

OU is outright #1 and any pollster that voted for Bama over OU should have thier votes taken away.

That said, who cares where people are ranked in week 6... it'll play itself out. But I think anyone that thinks Bama is #2 didn't see the Tulane game. (they probably also didn't see Maryland vs Clemson or Georgia vs USCe either)

TCU wasn't a complete cupcake. They crushed Stanford who crushed Oregon St who beat still for some reason in the top ten USC.

Cincy is also 3-1 now.

Granted they haven't faced a top tier team yet, but they've blown out some good ones.

Georgia, Auburn and Fla are overrated. The SEC has 2 teams that stand above the rest..LSU and Alabama. I have not been impressed with the rest. If Perrilloux was still at QB, LSU would be the runaway #1. I know LSU fans think Jarrett Lee and Andrew Hatch will do the job, and they have up until this point, but I think this will be their downfall.

the only one i can see is that oklahoma opened the season in the top three and bama has basically come from nowhere relative to the preseason polls .. this is why preseason polls are bullshite ..

Okalahoma has blown out two one loss teams. Haven't had a scare yet.

Bama had a scare against Tulane (2-2) and the Clemson team they get so much credit for looks to be off to a 3-3, 2-3 vs FBS teams. (if they can beat Wake I'll give bama more credit for this one) And the Georgia team they beat fell from, 1 to 2 to 3 for a reason...

yeah, but Bama crushed the #3 team in the country ON THE ROAD

wouldn't that count for more than everything OU has done thus far?

So, you nitpick Bama's wins but not OU's...can you analyze OU's wins some more...bottomline, Bama beat UGA, who we all know is very good.

Who was OU's signature win?

Tulane whipped Bama up and down the field. I'm willing to bet that most people who write that game off as an abberation didn't even watch it.

Tulane was the better team that day save for 2 special teams plays.

Barring turnovers, LSU is 2 touchdowns better than Bama.

With that said, I'm extremely worried about the Tide in the coming years when Saban's classes begin to take over. They are the new SEC West challengers, and they will be beastly.

Again, Bama's wins over Georgia is nice. But OU has been completely dominant in every game, bama can't say that. Cincy and TCU are both 1 loss teams. Neither great, but both respectable.

Bama's game vs Tulane is at best a bad performance. OU hasn't looked bad all year.

Alabama was outgained 318 to 172 by Tulane. Show me anything Okalahoma has done that looks that ugly? It's early, but the #1 team in the country shouldn't get almost doubled up in yardage to Tulane.

Dude, is it possible that OU has looked dominant because they have played average to mediocre teams?

nitpicking...they more than tripled Tulane's score...when I last checked, that was a more important stat.
