So, Rebs are arguing that Miss St is nationally perceived to be as racist as OM?
You can't fricking read, can you?
I swear, there isn't anybody in these threads more prone to completely misinterpreting what people are saying than you.
Ole Miss has a perception of being racist. Al (and others) said this was deservedly so, to which we demonstrated that, in fact, it really isn't.
Ole Miss isn't more racist than State or vice versa as an institution or a student body. It just isn't. Now, people may PERCEIVE such to be the case, but all of the arguments levied against Ole Miss are weak, as we've demonstrated.

These are national and therefore relevant to the conversation. I'll quote DCRebel one more time. "Perception is reality".

Because the fedreal gov't didn't get involed with any student who tried to attend State b/c the same classes and majors were offered at Alcorn.
Ah.....so MSU w told AA's they weren't going to let them in because Alcorn offered the same curriculum and the feds just told them to go to Alcorn?
That sounds extremely racist.

It's like you're trying to say all of the racists in Mississippi went to Ole Miss and everyone at MSU stood out front giving olive branches to minorities.
Where have I said this???

We aren't arguing national perception at this point, we are arguing about the blatant stupidity regarding the intergration of OM and Mississippi colleges in general, on this board.

It was the state law.
Just how things were back then. Had a lot to do with the Plessy v. Ferguson SC decision that established Separate but Equal facilities that allowed for segregation.

Thanks, Al.
Sounds like Clyde was a brave Mississippian. I'm going to enjoy reading up on him.

So where are the documents showing MSU lobbying to get this law changed?
You keep on bringing up court rulings that do nothing to refute the fact that MSU didn't attempt to integrate before Ole Miss.

These type of arguments always seem to happen after it is proved to state fans that nationally Ole Miss has the better rep

To which I agree. Ole Miss has a reputation for being a racist institution. The cold hard fact that it ISN'T doesn't matter to many people. Hence, the perception, to many, is the reality of the situation. Considering this, I completely understand why the university has undergone a series of changes to combat these perceptions.

Well, this explains my confusion to the relevancy of everything that was being posted on the last page I read, given the thread title and everything was posted 15 pages before.
