You didn't specify men's or women's so, add in
No. 1 Texas wins share of SEC regular-season title, beating Gators
and
SC beats UK to claim share of regular-season SEC title

It does take some luck. The NCAA tourney is a crap shoot to an extent. It just takes one lesser team to get red hot to ruin everything.
Seems like I have seen that story line before...somewhere.
Yeah, tournaments are different beasts. I hope we are ready and the basketball gods do not desert us. I'd like to see these guys play as many more games as possible, but you never know...

I think a lot of AU fans are guarded in general - waiting for the other shoe to drop, etc.
But I don't think there is anyway around it, something less than a F4 is a disappointment. Which is comically uncomfortable position for a lot of our people I think, and the tourney is unforgiving for that type of expectation.
In prior years, even conference title years, I think a lot of us had a "I'd love to make a deep run, but given our flaws a S16 at Auburn - which doesn't have many - would be a good outcome." I just don't think you can rationalize it this year based on the reg season resume at least.

Anything can happen in the tournament, but anything less than a national championship would be disappointing to some degree.

I think the best thing working in your favor versus our 2014 team that went 38-1 (the squads feel similar) is that you have some losses during the season. I'm a firm believer that it's virtually impossible to go undefeated today given the length of the season compared to the last undefeated team (76 Indiana). A team needs a loss to learn how to turn things around when things don't go the way you anticipate. 2012 Kentucky doesn't win an NC without catching that loss to Vandy in the SEC Tournament championship game.
Genuinely wish Pearl and Co. the best and hope you don't get some BS John Higgins treatment along the way.

You have a great team with maturity and depth. That seems to be the winning combo in today's college basketball

I think that team lost because Cal was too stubborn to realize that Tyler Ulis and Devin Booker should have been averaging 30mpg and the Harrison twins should of been on the bench.
I think a final four won't be tough for this Auburn team. We'll have to see their road.

How does this Auburn team stack up against the 99 Auburn team?
