I'm an Alabama alum, I just hope MSU kicks UG's arse. When UG loses it's always easier for me to head downtown that night. We can go somewhere near your school's broken arch w/o the shenanigans.

Is it unreasonable to assume that a poster with the word "dawg" in his username and the Miss State logo next to his name is a Miss State poster? We go on what we have... I didn't realize it was so common for Bama fans to knight for Miss State... TIL I suppose.

What in the everliving frick does this have to do with anything discussed so far? Non-sequitur much?

quote:

Now, tell me where I'm wrong in that UG (your history shows that's YOU) "hopes" that they'll win. You're the most insecure fan base in the conference. Always "next year," right?

I'm pretty confident that most fans of a program "hope" that their team will win. If you're not, you're probably doing the whole "fan thing" wrong... or you're currently a UT fan and you want Butch gone. What about any of my comments has been "insecure"? Did I claim we would win the SEC? Go to the CFP? Do anything of note? YOU made it personal and YOU now look like an idiot... But there's always "next post".

For a state school w/ all of this in-state talent, money, campus, & so forth, the UG football team seriously underachieves. In the past five years Missouri has won the East more times than UG.

A) The money wasn't being spent under the majority of Richt's final years... it's part of how we got so far behind in the CFB arms race.
B) We are in year 2 of a new coach, after the previous (very successful overall) coach essentially backslid after a compelling 2012 season. Pretty sure no one refutes any of that...
C) I too can select sample sizes that help illustrate my point... In the past 6 seasons, UF, Mizzou, and UGA have the same number of SEC East titles...

All of that has very little bearing on the current situation at UGA.

quote:

So I ask again. Where am I wrong about the UG insecurity?

I dunno... you tell me what part of any of my comments is "insecure" and perhaps I can point it out for you, but generally most UGA fans are tacitly aware of why Mark Richt is no longer our coach, why Kirby was hired, and what the roadmap needs to be to get where we'd like. None of those things are particularly debatable. Don't see a whole lot of UGA fans predicting an SEC Championship... Most predicted 10-2 season and looking at our schedule it looks possible.

Do I?

Given that you're unable to provide a coherent response other than insulting fans of UGA for asinine reasons, yeah... I'd say it's a pretty fair bet that's how most would view you right now. Literally every college town is essentially the same after a loss unless the visiting team has brought such a large contingency that they fill the majority of the restaurants. Generally people aren't super stoked for a night out after a loss. Maybe Ole Miss fans can tell me what it was like in Tuscaloosa for their win there? I dunno.

That UG's underachieving is real & people like you know it?

Was this supposed to be a complete sentence? It's missing something...

quote:

The fact that UG should beat MSU based on the schools alone. But you're unsure. That's why people like you keep responding in depth, as if you're some bastion of reason.

People like me respond in depth because it's what I do here. Regardless of opponent. This is a classic example of the ole dawgrading before the game has even been played. First, we're "meh". Now we "should beat MSU based on the schools alone". Which is it? I mean, if we're meh, clearly we should be about even with another "meh" school... Seriously. It's like arguing with a deaf and blind child here. Compared to you I'm a bastion of reason, intelligence, coherent thought...

Arguing that UGA is *currently* underachieving with Kirby in 2017 implies that either a) you haven't watched any of our games and don't understand our current situation or b) you're not a very bright individual. Most of our fans don't believe that we have a particularly great OC. Handicap that with a middling interior offensive line thus far and a true freshman quarterback for the second year in a row and yeah... I'd say you've got reason to give pause. Hell, Saban has recruited the #1 class how many years in a row and he's been there for 10+ years? Wouldn't you say not winning the national championship every year with by far and away the best players could be considered underachieving then in that scenario? Seriously... what kind of logic is this?

quote:

But you're unsure

I've said as much elsewhere you kumquat... What part of the matchup looks perfect for UGA? The part where we have an offense led by a freshman that wants to rely on its running game? Short of the freshman QB, that sounds a lot like what LSU's offensive identity is... Oh, and last week through game flow, they largely got taken out of their game plan and then taken to the woodshed as a result. We aren't going to be a team that comes from behind any particularly wide deficits IMO... so yeah. Many games are likely to be nail biters this season... Good thing my blood pressure was solid at my last checkup. I like our chances, but not predicting us to run away with it by any means. Dan Mullen is a good coach and they've got what looks to be a good team.

You coming to the game tomorrow? Or are you getting overtime at the feed mill?

Looking like no right now. Can't get anyone to watch the munchkin and the people I would normally stay with are either out of town or already have a full house. Will probably enjoy from the comfort of my own home in solitude... the way I prefer to watch games when I can't be there. My "feed mill" salary likely involves me paying more in taxes than you make at nearly any job HQ'd out of Athens... Congrats on picking a cool town to live in... hopefully you're not such an insufferable count in person as you seem to be OTB.

You guys are the easiest to get riled up over nothing.

Who is riled up? What is the fascination on this board with "rustling" and "grinding"... If someone responds to you in a coherent manner and you don't have anything to dispute, you've some how got their panties in a bunch... such a weird response.

Athens is a great town. Obviously, I'd prefer a UGA win, but not particularly confident in it yet, as we simply have small sample sizes to draw on this season. They've got what appears to be the more impressive win thus far.

Enjoy the volleyball game. Usually a very enjoyable spectator sport for sure. :)
