They play shite teams besides Clemson.
What? We played and beat two teams that won BCS bowl games last year. We also routinely schedule the ACC NC teams + ECU. While they aren't powerhouses they sure as hell are better than the WCUs of the world.
If I'm not mistaken 'Bama played 2 teams last year that went to BCS bowl games and lost to both of them so don't give me the scheduling crap.

Compare that with Kentucky (583-591-44) and Bear Bryant's record there (60-23-6) and you will see Bryant did far better at a program with similar prestige. Bryant had Kentucky in the national championship hunt in 1950. Something Spurrier never accomplished at Duke.
His stint at USC is a better comparison than Duke.
Spurrier better.

Now? Yeah. In the 1990s while he was at Florida? No.
The 90s had:
Florida State
Tennessee
Florida
Alabam
Nebraska
Miami
Notre Dame
Penn State
Michigan
Florida played all of those teams in the 90s at some point except for Michigan.

We're talking about the conference, not the nation. In the 1960s and 1970s, the country had:
Alabama
Ohio State
Michigan
Nebraska
Notre Dame
Southern California
Texas
Penn State
Oklahoma
Michigan State
Pittsburgh
Alabama played the vast majority of those teams when they were in their primes as well.
So I don't see what you're trying to get at.
The SEC of the 1990s was not so different from the SEC of the 1970s.

The point was the overall competition was very strong in the 90s and Spurrier had to deal with a top 5 Tennessee and Florida State team every year.
How is that any different from Bryant scheduling those teams you mentioned? Don't try to use Bryant aggresively scheduling those teams when Spurrier had to deal with those two powerhouses EVERY year in the 90s.

How many BSC bowl teams has SOS beaten in a BCS bowl game? Isn't he still unbeaten in those games?

In BCS bowl games, I believe Spurrier's only loss was in the Sugar Bowl in 2001 to Miami.
EDIT: Obviously he lost to the GOAT Nebraska team in 95, but that was before the BCS existed.

He needed 31 the last time I looked. With an 8 game conference schedule, he could reach this record in 4 years. What do you think?
It all depends on these next couple of years. Actually, on the 2014, 2015 and 2016 seasons.
If he is really close, he might stick around and take a shot at it. If not, he'll probably retire.
