This is not 2011. They are not looking for the four best teams. They are looking for (in my opinion) the four best conference champions. If OSU or UM go undefeated, TCU goes undefeated, Clemson finishes with one loss, and USC also finishes with one loss, then LSU is out even if they manage to beat UGA.
1 -OSU or UM
2 - TCU
3 - Clemson or USC
4 - Clemson or USC
Only way LSU gets into the CFP is 1) Beat UGA and 2) One of the other conference champions have at least two losses. I do not see this scenario playing out.
After 2020 and 2021 I am fine with the Orange Bowl. Hopefully we can build on 2022 success and Jayden Daniels decides to return for another year.
