Why do some Carolina fans/alumni, of all people, have a stick up their arse about Saban and Bama? We haven't even played in five years. Is it just mimicking the HBC?

Genro ... you, of all people, I should not have to explain this to like having to explain the birds and the bees to a ten year old. But I will, since you insist.

It's about the gosh damn pussification of the game of college football. It's about shitty excuses for losing ... but never before have we seen shitty excuses for winning a close one over a far lesser opponent.

Whaaaahhhh we won a close one because Tennessee has three moral victories on their schedule!

WTF????!!!!

Whaaaahhh we won a close one, at home, because our little legs were tired after not having a break all season!

WTF????!!!!

Some of us old timers remember years of Carolina schedules not giving us a break until after the eighth game ... then we had to face the orange crush of Tennessee, Florida and Clemson to finish the fricking eleven game season. But we never complained.

Check it out. For most of the first twenty years after the first expansion, both Auburn and SCAR both played eight games, nearly every year, before getting a break. Neither fan base, none of the coaches, every used it as an excuse for a loss ... much less an excuse for a win.

And speaking of that Bama at SC game five years ago .. most SC fans heard this but let it go, but now it's time to revisit it once again in the wake of Saban's latest comment.

After SCAR threw a beatin' on that Bama arse five years ago ... Saban, immediately following the game, admitted he got his arse beat. But you remember what the little fricker said on Sunday night? He whined and complained that he was having to face six teams on his schedule that were taking a week off before facing Bama ... and he had been assured by the SEC offices that he would never have to endure it again. When asked if he felt that led to the SC victory he said he felt that it definitely played a role in the outcome.

WTF????!!!!

SCAR beat Bama because we were one of six teams who happened to have a week off before we played Bama that year?

It seems to be becoming a trend for Saban, who I greatly respect, whenever he loses or has a close victory.

So, you asked "why?" That's why. Take it or leave it.

Although this thread was meant mostly in jest, it's definitely becoming habit for Saban to make little excuses for anything but blow-out dominating wins.

Before you got there ... the HBC never did it. He did just the opposite. And I never said anything about Saban being a midget or a dwarf ... so don't go there either. I have respect for Saban and most Bama fans ... but this post UT game thing that happened Saturday night and Sunday ... it was not cool to see. It was like watching a bull getting castrated. I almost cringed watching y'all tout UT's moral victories and listening to Saban whine about dead legs and being tired.

Gosh dammit Bama!

IT's called "pulling an Aubie". They are the classic example of the moral victory. Hell, back about 10 years ago I think Tubbs bought the team a ring and they had a hay ride in "lovliest trailerpark village" to celebrate a national championship they never played for.
Orange is the new pussy.

Hell yes. Absolutely. All perfectly acceptable post-game evaluations.

Or, as the HBC was fond of saying, "God was smiling on the Gamecocks (or Gators) today," when remarking on an uncomfortably close win over a lesser opponent.

Don't make excuses. Bama is the standard bearer for the conference historically ... no excuses allowed.

Immoral victory.

And you are correct. It is rare to hear Saban ever give credit to an opposing team unless his has just beaten them to a pulp. Listening to him make whiny excuses is usually a good indicator that the opposing team has just played very well. Props to Tennessee.

Good God man. Saban can't even mention what he sees.

Y'all are losing your goddamn minds over absolutely nothing. Our players were tired after several games in a row. Holy shitballs. No coach has ever said that.

Some fans don't know what it's like to have to play a pretty tough schedule.

I believe Bama's players were tired, and didn't Tennessee have a bye last weekend? Seems logical enough for me.

I'm not counting on them playing sluggish or tired next weekend, if that's what you're thinking.
