When you pay a guy millions to be a head coach of a top 15 program you expect high standards
Rumiln is the second highest paid HC in the SEC and A&M hasn't finished the season as a ranked team since 2013.
I guess you and I have a different definition of high standards.

I was talking about personal standards- ie is he a good role model for young fans.
And Rumlin isn't even the highest paid coach in our state.

Name another example.
Kirk Ferentz. He was a failed head coach at Maine but that also counts for O.

Truth is LSU is the only SEC school that hasn't accepted its fate and is still fighting like hell to compete with Alabama.
It is a signal to objective observers that when the LSU AD failed to bother to conduct a professional and thorough search for a new HC that LSU was surrendering to Alabama and had no real intention to go "all-out" to find the best available proven HC.
LSU's hire signals a surrender, and certainly doesn't signal an all-out effort to win an NC in the near future.

Really? Kirk Ferentz is your second example of a best case scenario? The most overpaid coach this decade?

So, what if they had two months. Name somebody outside of Herman and Fisher LSU would realistically want and could have?
How about LSU hiring a professional coaching search firm in Sept 2016 and let THEM conduct a nationwide thorough search and interview process to ensure that LSU hires the BEST PROVEN head coach out there?
Why not try that? I'll tell you why: Surrender to the Might of Saban. Keep your powder dry until he retires. Go cheap for now. That's why.

He is not an example of a best case scenario. He is another example that disproves "No big 6 program has ever elevated a position coach to hc."
Edit: And in spit of being overpaid, Ferentz has not had a terrible career at Iowa. Not good enough for LSU but as far as hires go, it turned out okay.

the anomaly for LSU was 2000-2011. Every other decade sucked for LSU
So how could LSU have been ranked in the top 10 all-time in 1990, with winning records versus all SEC teams besides Alabama and Tennessee?
I don't really believe you think top 7.5% = suck.

LSU will conduct a proper search and pay the money to get an elite coach
POSSIBLY after Saban retires. LSU has surrendered for now.

LSU is now a 8-9 win team. That is all.

Fair enough.

Young fans have no clue about CEO's skeletons from the 1980's.
They realize that Rumlin is Sark 2.0 though.

a professional and thorough search for a new HC
What does that mean to you?
Jimbo Fisher wanted a 10 year deal. Who would do that?
Tom Herman backed off a commitment. Should Alleva have stuck it out? Maybe, but I'm not going to criticize him for not hiring a guy he can't trust.
After that, who is a proven coach worth $5-6M/yr that Alleva could have gotten?
His best option was Orgeron at $3.5M/yr and go after the best coordinators in football. We will see how that plan works out, but so far so good.

Ferentz also led me to another head coach from position coach that turned out okay, Hayden Fry.

They will be bottom dwellers with OM for a few years. I do think they will eventually crawl their way out of the deep pit they are currently in though.

Mike Gundy comes to mind.

The woman beating charges were from the 1990s. And they don't have a clue about a lot of things but that doesn't mean as a parent I wouldn't want to shield them.

First of all there is no concrete proof to the allegations that Sumlin is a drunk outside of a video so blurry a UFO conspiracy nut would say its a fake.
Secondly just because Sumlin sucks at life doesn't absolve anyone else. At least under Sumlin we haven't had problems with our players raping or beating women and I am proud of that (not saying LSU has, just saying we haven't).

What's your honest opinion on LSU?
A lot like UGA in that they have every resource you could want but havne't really realized their full potential.
Yeah I'm sure LSU fans are going to point out all of UGA's underachieving lately but that's just the way I see it.
