With Tebow gone, I think he'll be considered the 2nd best QB in the SEC behind Mallett next year. What says the Rant?

I would be shocked if there was a single Bama fan willing to trade McElroy for Jefferson. McElroy's just better right now. Jefferson has more room for improvement but right now its McElroy without question. 2, 400 yards, 61%, 17 TDs and 4 picks, his numbers are underrated, especially 17 and 4.

J. Jefferson QB rating '09 = 138
McElroy rating = 142

pretty much same statistics...no way 2nd best qb next year

I thought Jefferson was going to be a star. I still like him a lot. He needs to get over the pouting but he's only 19, he'll grow up. By senior year he should definitely be up there as the best QB in the SEC. But for next year I'd take McElroy.

McElroy is also a RS junior JJ is a true Soph

Yet one had an Oline protecting him and still put up average numbers(Stats are skewed against weak teams) the other had to make plays to keep drives alive with no rb to support. He was blitzed all day and still put up decant stats.

I guess his games against arkansas, virgina tech, miss state, all sucked since he only had one good game, not to mention the arse raping he gave the powder puff teams. And if I remember correctly he had a pretty good game against against LSU.

Disaggree with you Memphis. McElroy is cool as the other side of the pillow. I love the kid. Has no idea how to lose.

Jefferson a pretty good passer and has a lot of physical tools. He also has absolutely no pocket awareness whatsoever. I just have trouble seeing LSU being an elite team and beating the Alabamas and Floridas of the world with that guy behind center.

Take away 73 yards on what was clearly block in the back and you have avg numbers and possibly a loss

He is no better than JPW/thread

I am done arguing against this gump logic.

His stats are pretty sechsy for a frst year starter.

192/314 61.1% 2,450 Yards 17 TD's 4 INT's

He's the next Joe Montana IMO.

I think G-Mac is an average QB. He'll get some good press next year for the team accomplishments. I think he is a "middle of the pack" SEC QB.

LOL, his stats are skewed by bad teams? Like Va Tech, LSU, Arkansas, Auburn and Florida? He barely played against Chattanooga and didn't exactly put up his best numbers against the two other gimmies. Better off sticking with the Jefferson doesn't have as much talent around him argument. Of course I thought LSU had by far the best wide receiver core in the SEC?

McElroy actually didn't really play that well against Arkansas. His deep ball was absolutely money on that day but that was it. Most of McElroy's completions were dumpoffs to the RBs and Alabama had trouble sustaining drives the entire game.
