False per pff Arch had a 94.2 QBR rating vs Mississippi State. A simple search shows that. Also that 94.2 rating is the highest of any SEC qb that played against Mississippi state. But I forgot this is the Rant and facts are usually discarded when posting here. How about we stop talking about him and just let him play and judge after the season.

It will be interesting to see how arch handles going into wk2 being 0-1.

I mean, congrats on beating SEC # 16, 15, 13, 12, 11, 10 and 7 with your best team in 15 years?

Texas went 1-2 vs teams in the top 9 of the SEC and beat Vandy by 3 points and Arkansas by 10.

Now, lets compare tx Offense to what OU went thru last year:

Arnold 23: 1.5 starts
Manning 24: 2 starts

OU OL entering 24: 4/5 new OL starters
TX OL entering 25: 4/5 new OL starters

OU WRs entering 24: 2 new starters
TX WRs 25: 2 new starters

OU TE 24: new starters & backup
TX TE 25: new starters & backup

Pretty certain he cannot live up to the hype. Kind of unfair for the kid

At least one natty and one Heisman.
To a lesser degree, at least one SEC championship.

Given he has two years, I would take this all day, every day if you offered it to me now. More than anything we need that fifth natty, it’s been 20 years now.

To match the hype add to it probably going #1 overall in the draft but that doesn’t have nearly as much to do with his legacy status at Texas.

Better have a chat with Belmont Hall. They're the one spewing the hype on a daily basis.

We have no control over that. You do realize that every university promotes their heisman candidates right?
You don't think we all got sick of the "johnny football" hype the year he won it?

I have no idea how good he'll be...but I understand why the AD is promoting him. $$$

Nobody is ever as good as the hype and nobody is ever as bad as the doomsayers predict.

Arch seems to be a good runner and better than average passer. Has NFl potential.

However the hype has been huuuuge Without a Heisman and a natty some will say he didn’t met expectations …

Arch could never play another game at TX and still be considered a good investment. He brought a lot of other recruits in as well as the media attention that goes with his last name.

Arch is hyped by the media.

Not by his social media.

Not by his jewelry, or cars, or nasty ho's.

I have to tip my hat how this young man has carried himself given the intense scrutiny he receives because of his name.

I hope he does well, except against GA.

Go Dawgs

Question for Texas fans. At this point in Mannings career, is he behind or ahead of Colt McCoy in development? I personally believe Texas would have beat Bama if he had not been injured. If Manning was really great, why was Quinn starting? Do you believe 9 months will magically make Manning better than Quinn? And, if Manning was soooo much better, why did your Coach allow an inferior QB to play and cost his team a chance at a Natty? If Mannings name was not Manning, would you feel different?

I predict more alcoholism amongst Tejas fans this season. Best of luck this season and hope your Prince Manning lives up to the hype for you. Otherwise, you’re f—K’ed

For all the hype he's getting this preseason he had better leave Austin with a Heisman Trophy, SEC championship, CFP championship, and the #1 overall pick in the NFL Draft.

It's been twenty years since Texas won a Heisman/NC, which tells me they'll be more patient and accepting than most think.

I think he'll be fine, eventually good, but never top tier. And Texas will be impressed by him and disappointed by him.

But again, twenty years is a long time and the longer the go the lesser your expectations (speaking, unfortunately, from experience)

I think last year Manning was definitely better in some aspects than Ewers, but your premise is flawed. Ewers was the better quarterback last year, hands down. He dropped the to fifth round because he’s injury prone and flimsy QBs never last in the NFL.

Ewers had the benefit of experience and was better at reading defenses, and executing the game plan. Less mistakes, more predictable performances and kept the ball safe, with a good instinct to keep us in the game or fight back to win. Healthy Ewers was better than Arch last year, but if he was hurt, the guy was a sitting duck.

Manning is risk taker with a gunslinger attitude. More physical and a better long ball, and not as afraid of getting hit as Ewers. Definitely higher upside but it would be a gamble throwing him into the games late in the season. He’s going to turn the ball over. We saw him come in against UGA in the regular season and there was no difference because no one was safe in that pocket.

Definitely get the opposite vibe at least from the Utes here. With all the changes to the program, coaching and players, they are chomping at the bit to break into the modern elite status with something to show for it.

To match the hype hes getting? Go undefeated, win the Heisman, win the natty and go #1 over all.

And chances are none of that is going to happen. He may turn out to be a good player but most likely the people around him that have hyped this up to the max will realize they've done Arch more harm than good. The kid is in a damn near impossible situation. He has to thread the needle on every aspect of this season to meet the expectations.
