He's a solid OC and a great recruiter. He's in over his head as HC.

Did Tennessee have the most disliked fanbase on here at that time? Were we irrelevant like when Dooley was here? Constant UT flame threads?

Hit me with some knowledge, ranters.

Tennessee fans were the worst ever. They embraced the fact Kiffin was gonna have the team act like Miami during their "in your face-taunting" years, but without the talent to back it up.

He had the fans acting and embracing the thug life before he did all his players.

Let me put it this way. I like Kiffin a lot more since he left Tennessee. He isn't nearly as big of a douche at USC than he was at Tennessee.

I can sort of see the appeal: he's a shitty coach and you're a shitty post--...

Naaaah, just kiddin', diddy.

What was the rant's opinion of UT when Kiffin was there?
I joined this board a year and half after Kiffin bolted Knoxville so I wasn't around then.

Then perhaps you've never seen this.

He was widely disparaged as a clown by many - and touted by others as a remarkable guy who would lead Tenn to greatness

Honestly, UT probably played its best football in the last five years during the middle part of 2009 season.

That said, Kiffin is the biggest douche in college football and I couldn't stand UT fans during that time. I cant believe smart, successful people made the decision to pay him millions of dollars to run their programs. The butthurt Kiffin had on his coach's show the day after the Cody block FG game was one of the all-time worst. I'm still convinced that the "out of order" headset thing in that game was a stunt by him.

I really do have to give the dude some credit. He's managed to turn complete mediocrity into 3 high-profile head-coaching gigs. He's been riding the USC offensive coordinator wave for like 7 years now.

I thought it was funny that Kiffin had so much animosity towards Urban Meyer and so much respect for Nick Saban. I believe he even said in an interview leading up to the Alabama game, that "Florida has more talent, but Alabama has MUCH better coaches". His hatred for Urban made no sense, given he had zero history with him. He just decided to start despising him from the get go.

Urban is easy to hate though.
