And had Pat White not have been knocked out of the Pitt game in the last week of the season, LSU wouldn't have even so much as sniffed the national title in 2007. We can play it both ways.

How did that contribute to Trent Richardson and Mark Ingram shredding the Texas rush defense?

Exactly...I don't remember Colt playing defense.

It was less satisfying without McCoy, to be sure, but the guy that played in his stead did a great job.

I'm not sure McCoy could have done any better.

I think McCoy would have done a better job protecting the football. We had two TD's directly related to mistakes made by the young QB. The shuffle pass TD right before halftime wouldn't have occured with McCoy in the game and the fumble on the two yard line probably would have just been a sack.

That is being honest but I think we would have won with McCoy in the game because I think he also would have struggled against our defense.

The only reason I think Texas would have won the game is because the Longhorns had a chance to take the lead at the end. I think that with Colt they would have won easily

McCoy is a run first throw second qb. Bama used the same D on Texas as they used on FL. Don't get beat long and make the qb pay to run the ball.
McCoy would have been in the same shape as T-bo was at the end of the 4th qt. Take a knee and cry me a hand full.

come to think of it, he was on the sidelines crying.

Pretty sure this is the first and last time anybody will ever compare Colt McCoy to Peyton Manning. You need to share that shite you're smoking with the rest of us.

You do know that LSU set the bar for MNC "what ifs" in 2007 don't you?

That is a "what if" record that will stand the test of time.

Its fair to compair the two is your talking about col. football. Colt was everything to Texas & you know it. The loss of Colt was just like cutting the head off that team. I'm sure Bama will be remembered for their greatness... beating Texas without their Hiesman candidate. That was impressive

Peyton apparently wasn't everything to Tennessee. In his senior year they barely won the SEC title game against Auburn and then got raped by Nebraska in the Orange Bowl to finish the season #6 and 11-2. The next year, with a brand new quarterback, Tennessee goes 13-0 and wins the national championship.

Therefore, your comparison is bogus.

I realize your reaching to either stir trouble or make you feel better about LSU but this is the exact reason why Bama was the better team and the best team. Take GM away that game we still win, take Ingram away we still win with TR. They scored three td and two were on busted coverages, one was on a tremendous route by Shipley and Javy bit on it.

So your under the impression that Colt was really injured and not just protecting his draft stock? Yeah let me get a hit of that.

Tennessee winning it all playing a Florida State team led by Marcus Outzen instead of Chris Weinke. And just like this year's Bama team was better than Texas, Tennessee was clearly the superior team to Florida State and would have won no matter who the opposing QB was that night.

Well you damn sure can't compare it to LSU's 2 loss BCS championship with losses to 2 historical bottom dwellers. The game was even played in the Superdome, LOL what a joke...

In fact, the only other team you can compare it to is Ohio State 2002, the only other 14-0 BCS champion.

Alabama's championship was undisputed. You should take a look at this. LINK
'09 Alabama is only the 13th unanimous champion in the AP era. 1943 Notre Dame, 1948 Michigan, 1963 Texas, 1971 Nebraska, 1972 USC, 1995 Nebraska, 1998 Tennessee, 1999 Florida State, 2001 Miami, 2004 USC, 2005 Texas and 2006 Florida are the others. That's pretty clearcut to me.

I still think Bama would have beten Texas with Colt in the entire game. It would have been close though.

Bama went into a shell and played very conservatively when Colt went down, and it's the only reason Gilbert had any impact.
