Congrats on all those "regular season" titles.

What, no love for all the tournament titles?
It's okay to be wrong, especially if your team hasn't won any titles, regular season or tournament.

Tourney titles are celebrated. "Regular Season" not so much. Go ahead and gloat about them, it's a loser mentality. It's championship or bust, no one gives a shite about losing the last game of the year in anything.

In basketball and baseball, you've got it backwards.

You really don't know anything, do you?
The conference tournament doesn't have the last game of the season for all the teams. Some go on to the NCAA tournament.
In 1997 LSU traveled to Alabama in the last series of the regular season. LSU just needed one win to take the regular season title, otherwise it would've gone to Alabama. They lost the first two games, but took the third and won the regular season championship.
Then, in the SEC Tournament finals, Alabama beat LSU to win the tournament championship.
You think LSU lost their last game of the season? Nope. In the CWS finals LSU beat Alabama to win the national championship. How much gloating do you think Alabama did for winning the SEC tournament then? Was winning the tournament title more important than winning the regular season title?

Never heard it in football until this year. It is a thing people say in basketball though .

It's not about what people say, it's about what the SEC awards. There is no regular season title awarded by the SEC for football, but there are for baseball, softball, and men's and women's basketball.
It's all here.

It’s a participation trophy to make losers feel good. A national championship is the only thing anyone should brag about.

Harry...listen up dumbass. If you don't play for the championship, you lost. If you lose your last game of the season in pursuit of a championship, you lost.
Your bullshite stroll down memory lane does nothing.
Win the SEC, win the National Championship. That's it, end of story.

Hate to tell you but football is moving toward basketball - to where the tourney means nothing.
For basketball, the regular season champ should ABSOLUTELY raise a banner AND does.
The conference tourney is just window dressing and is only important if you need to win to make it in.

It will happen - very soon.
