Sears was among the largest retail stores in the world in the 1950s, and even as late as the 1980s were the largest retailers in the nation, by revenue, according to an article at abcnews.com. Now they lose a billion per year and closing stores all across the world.

Just for a little perspective.

Wonderful, thank you

But perspective still doesn't change the definition of what the big 6 is

If you've won the SEC*, you're in...if not, you're not

*won since 1992

Fox and friends this morning reported that Sears is closing 70 something stores because they lost like 212 million, but your point is valid and things do change over time.

Going to have to agree here.

You can't just enter the big 6 without winning the SEC.

Teams that haven't won the conference shouldn't be mentioned in the debate till they do

So UT has won the SEC before, but they have been a terrible program over the last 10 years. Why would they still be considered Big 6?

I never said anything about teams LEAVING the big 6.

Just teams joining.

But if I had to, If UT were to drop out, then it just becomes the big 5.

That's just my opinion.

More than 6 current SEC teams have won the SEC title.

You have to refine your criterion.

Ok. If you insist. Congratulations Mississippi State. You're one of the SEC Big 6. UT is out.

I think he'll build a very solid program. I don't think that will show up in the record for this season though.

Im not either. I think fisher will do good at a&m. But it wont be his first season. Fisher is already obviously recruiting better than sumlin atleast.

Can you do Tennessee but just the last 8 conference games?

Can you do a list of how many times each team has gone 0-8 in conf, and when?

Moron fans of a non-Big 6 program just don’t get it. The Big 6 does not change. The Big 6 are and always will be daddy to the rest of the league.

Big Six this year will be the same it's been for just about alltime.

Winning the SEC once or twice won't cut it to displace one of the Big Six.

ETA: And yes, Tennessee is still firmly a member of the Big Six.
