Homer Smith was Bama's best OC.

I think that he is a good OC, but not great. Sure, our offense has been better than it had ever been over the last 4 years, but we have also had more offensive talent than we have ever had. Do you really not think that there is a correlation?

so Alabama, in the past, has never had this kind of talent relative to the rest of the country?

Sean Peyton is a phenomenal OC. Saints fans, at times, think that he is fricking horrid.. because they disagree with a call or a play was well defended, etc.

Say what you want but IMO the reason Alabama has such a strong offense is the delayed handoffs and the screen game.

Not complete. Bama doesn't have many Julios in its history, and we're just about to see the most talented wr core put together in t-town.

I say throw the bank at Haley, the former Chiefs coach.

Deandrew White and who else? Kenny Bell is a good deep threat, but he's no different than your current WRs.

in b4 duron carter (DeAngelo Benton part 3)

Marvin Shinn, Duron Carter, Kenny Bell (with more seasoning), not to mention TEs like Brian Vogler.

On paper it's the most talented WR corps Alabama has ever had. But the game isn't played on paper. We'll see.

As for the OC, I think we're lucky to have had Jim McElwain. People who are bitching have no perspective.

I imagine Saban will give the Packers QB coach a look. Didn't we almost hire him years back?

It's easy to play the 'on paper' game.. but it really means very little. I'd say your most talented squad ever would have to include Julio. I can't look at the WRs you listed and say damn, that's better than Julio, Hanks, and Maze (a very talented group) were.

Duron Carter.. who did nothing whatsoever anywhere

Marvin Shinn, a talented and promising incoming WR with zero college experience

Kenny Bell, looks to be a good deep threat

Deandrew White.. well he didn't really make an impact this year at all. He looks the part though.

He's been a good one. I feel at times we could have been a little more creative, esp. in the RZ, but in no way was JM a bad DC.

Better $$$$ but more important to cut his teeth as HC. Majority of top coaches started out at mid-major level and CSU is historically a solid mid-major plus Colorado is a NICE place to live.
