Pellini

It was never very proudly acknowledged, but in 2008 there was an article which credited :gasp: Mallveto for the BCS defensive preparations. Not Bo Pellini.

So my point is that good players entrenched in a system can succeed in a back up coach's game plan, even Mallveto's, for one game.

On my phone so can't search well for a link and exact quote.

I can't believe some of you can't see how great of a coordinator McElwain was.

I think that he is a good OC, but not great. Sure, our offense has been better than it had ever been over the last 4 years, but we have also had more offensive talent than we have ever had. Do you really not think that there is a correlation?

So you said

quote:

not really....

And then listed 11 other opponents. Solid fail.

He's referring to the report about Saban allegedly giving McElwain a "less than glowing review" over the phone to the Memphis U AD.

Allegedly being key word. It wasn't the AD, but to the guy leading the search from the outside, and I doubt seriously it ever happened. If Saban didn't like Mac he could have pushed him out long ago. Saban liked McElwain b/c McElwain does what Saban wants/says. The Memphis rumor was nonsense.

No matter what the Gumps say losing your OC (or having him distracted) is not a good thing especially when your head coach is a defensive guy. Pelini did okay, but you look back and it is not a great situation. Richt to GA for FSU comes to mind.

well it depends on who we get to replace him. We have so many athletes in our offensive depth, it will be interesting to see what the new guys does with them.

yes, exactly what my plan. that followed by not responding.

you said bama had 'opponants' other than LSU. I posted your soft schedule which based on the score outcome and their end of the year rank....proved you really didn't have a competitive opponent other than LSU.

how is that difficult to understand?

Its perfectly easy to understand. You tried to be clever and it failed.

i wasn't trying to be clever. just point out the glaring obvious.

but it's hard to reason with fans who still believe they are the better team after losing at home.

good news IMO

I think he is as solid coach. Alabama played to the strength of that great D. With a first year QB he put together a solid unit. A solid OC makes a BIG difference even when your team is not based on that side. See LSU with and without Crowton.
