It’s not hypocritical. Been explained to you numerous times. The why makes all the difference in this discussion. They why is the whole point of the joke.
If Kirby were utilizing the portal due to his own recruiting flaws, like Mullen is, Only then would your accusations of hypocrisy make sense.

Year 1’s are mulligans. Nick saban proved that in 2007. So did Kirby 2016. Also, Mullen had a better set up for 2018 than either of them did for their year 1.

Mullen's first year as a head coach he went 5-7. Kirby's first year he went 8-5.
