The question is about why the holes exist in the first place. The answer is the exact opposite for both of them.

What does it matter?
A hole is a hole.
You're talking shite about Mullen using the portal to fill holes even though he's only going into his third season at Florida while Kirby is going into his fifth season and clearly put all of his eggs into the Fields basket and then let him walk.
Regardless of what excuses you make, Kirby mismanaged that situation.
Sorry it hurts your feelings.

1. why does mullen use the transfer portal?
2. why does Kirby use the transfer portal?
The same reason everyone does, to fill holes on their rosters
Do you know the difference between the 2?
Kirby is recruiting very well. The WR transfer last year was to account for 3 juniors going to the nfl. Eventually another WR got kicked out of the school.
The TE transfer in 2019 was due to bad recruiting by Kirby.
The 2016 #1 TE in the country left early for the NFL after the 2018 season.
We didnt take any TE in 2017.
The #3 TE in the country in 2018 transferred home (IL) to be near a grandparent with cancer.
So we were left with a bunch of plan Bs and a transfer from Tenn who did very well. Because of the poor job managing the roster through recruiting, we had to grab another grad transfer for 2020.
UGA did grab the #3 TE in the country for 2020. So we should be able to get out of the loop if Darnell Washington sticks.
And that is where Florida and Mullen come in. The offensive recruiting has been and still is bad (I can give credit to the UF defensive recruiting. It has been elite for 2 classes now). But UF will rely on transfers in a cruel cycle. Because of the transfers, they aren't recruiting well. When the transfers leave quickly, they wont have the talent to compete and will need more transfers. These are permanent holes that Mullen will continually need to fill.

Because it says a lot about the coaches recruiting, which is what we are discussing.
1. One coach needs the portal to fill holes made through weaker recruiting.
2. The other needs the portal to fill holes made through stronger recruiting.
Why are you offended by this reality?

So just so I understand, both things lead to holes that need to be filled thru the transfer portals, correct?

That’s beside the point being made.

Weird how you talk shite about Mullen filling holes with the portal yet you make excuses for Kirby doing the same thing.
Its all the same end result.

Mullen doesn’t recruit well, so it makes sense to talk shite about it. Why would anyone talk shite about a coach recruiting very good? What a stupid idea you have.

I'm not defending Mullen, I just find it hilarious the reaches that some Georgia fans will make to defend ol Kirbs.
Defend what? He's just won 33 games in three seasons. You want them to fire him for not winning an NC at this point in his first ever HC job or something?

Which leads to roster holes

Which according to you, leads to roster holes

Only an idiot would fault a guy for their strengths, which is what you are doing.

Again, you're still saying Kirby's strength and Mullen's weakness have the same end result.
Holes in the roster.

So which one coach is lucky to be the transfer portal era? The one who doesn’t recruit as well as he should.

Mullen is the greatest coach in the history of college football. He is amazing! Truly extraordinary!

It isnt the same result.
How many transfers does UF have per 247 sports for playing in this upcoming year?
7
How many transfers does UGA have?
5.
3 of those 5 are all at QB fighting along side the #5 QB in the country (2020 class) and #9 QB in the country (2019 class).
Nuance seems to be foreign to you.
The only position that UGA has had problems recruiting the past 3 seasons has been tight end. The 2020 class helped solve that issue for the future. But we do have a transfer tight end coming in to push as a starter.

So you ask for a breakdown. I give it, and that's what you got? You are a waste of space.
