2015 Week 14 - CFP Poll - UNC - 10
That was the year that there were 4 higher ranked 1-loss teams, and 3 higher ranked 2-loss teams.
It looks like the committee didn't think UNC would get in with one loss.
Week 15 - shows that the 1-loss teams (now 5 with Iowa) didn't move very much in the final poll. UNC remaned at 10

Yes, but a victory over the #1 ranked Clemson would have catapulted UNC above those teams into the top 4.

Only a UNC fan would believe this.

Might have. That sos was terrible and it involved a terrible loss.

No, Clempson has 2 of the last 3. The rest of the ACC is garbage.

Best in the ACC. I agree. Both could go undefeated in the acc.

I think if the Acc and Sec lined up and matched 14 teams against each other we would six or 7 games no problem. Just say in the top 7 we go 2-5 because Clemson will beat anybody in the Sec so that's one win and out of the other six games we should win at least one more. I don't know who it will be but we will win one more at least equal 2 wins in the first 7. In the bottom half we will win 4-5 against your bottom half and that will make 6-7 wins. This year I think your bottom half is worse than our bottom half and that's why we will win at least 6-7 games if you matched them up. I case of a tiebreaker the ACC win come out on top because y'all have more better teams at the top we will still have the best team in Clemson.

Hold on.
In week 14 the CFP rankings were:
1. Clemson 12-0
2. Alabama 11-1
3. Oklahoma 11-1
4. Iowa 12-0
5. Michigan State 11-1
6. Ohio State 11-1
7. Stanford 10-2
8. Notre Dame 10-2
9. Florida State 10-2
10. North Carolina 11-1
Alabama's loss came to CFP #13 Ole Miss. Alabama beat CFP #18 Florida, #21 LSU, and #25 Tennessee.
Oklahoma's loss came to texas. They beat CFP #25 Tennessee, #17 Oklahoma State, #12 Baylor, and #11 TCU.
Iowa was undefeated, having beat CFP #14 North Western and looked to be the Big 10 favorite.
Michigan State lost to Nebraska, but beat CPF #16 Oregon, #15 Michigan, and #5 Ohio State.
Ohio State lost to CFP #5 Michigan State, and beat #15 Michigan.
Stanford lost to CFP #16 Oregon and # 14 Northwestern, and beat #20 SC and #6 Notre Dame.
Notre Dame lost to CFP #7 Stanford and #1 Clemson, and beat #23 Nave, #22 Temple, and #20 SC.
Florida State lost to George Tech and CFP #1 Clemson, but beat #18 Florida.
North Carolina lost to South Carolina and beat...nobody.
Even if NC beats Clemson, do they get past Oklahoma, who beat 4 top 25 teams? Michigan State, who beat 3 top 25 teams?
NC may have an argument for the others, but the committee was clearly focused on who teams had beaten.
