Most of theirs are smaller games in smaller cities where travel is inexpensive and overhead is low

Makes sense … Why are you on this board?

What’s an “also rand”

It’s what happens when I try to type on my phone.
Just watched one of those bowl games and they said that would be the last one. Sorry, do not remember which one from last week.

EDIT….. Bucked Up LA Bowl at SoFi Stadium.

the SEC and Big 10 expansion

Never made sense to have ALL of a university’s sports have to commit to the new alignment.
This is about football. You can justify sending the Oregon football team to New Jersey to play Rutgers. I just have a hard time wanting to send a volleyball team that distance. The Super League should be football only. All other sports stay in their conferences.
Ratings draws? Would have to see those numbers. Seats are empty. Sponsors bail from year to year. Not sure it can be sustained.

super league sounds awful

I agree. Just have seen more articles about it lately.

5 more years until the Super League?

Long post….

Everyone hates current college football system.
Seems logical that a FOOTBALL ONLY Super League, of some kind, will emerge after the current TV contract.
BIG10 and SEC are tired of sharing football money with the also-rans of college football.
Bowls are useless money grabs for TV.

I like Pate’s idea of having bowls as kick off games in week 1 or even week 0. OR get rid of them.
Have no idea how they make money from empty stadiums. Orlando has THREE bowl games!

The big question is how many outsiders get in?
Obviously Notre Dame. Clemson, Miami, Texas Tech, BYU?
Fringe teams are going to freak out. Kansas State? Arizona State?

Maybe the 5 year window will allow the powers to be, to get it right or at least close. Who knows.

Thoughts?

I played Champions Gate International, Grand Cypress and Disney Palms about 4 years ago on a Disney trip.

Good courses. The Disney courses are hit or miss. LBV was my favorite of the bunch, but lately, conditions are not great and the pace of play is stupid long. There are a lot of other courses I’d play before Disney. I still think Orange County National is one of the best options in the area and close to Disney.

Everyone should have at least 2 putters.
Who am I kidding?
You can’t have too many putters.

I have 5 putters. 4 mallets and 1 blade (PING Anser).
They all have different face materials, so I alternate from softer faces to more firm faces. Go back and forth between Odyssey 2-ball and a Bertinardi Inovai 6 (fang style). The Bertinardi stays in my back the most.

For distance … IMO, it’s just practice. I try to get a feel on the practice green to see how fast they are.

Saw a drill that helps me. Find a flat spot on the practice green and hit 2-3 balls taking a “normal” no-thinking stroke. (ASSUMING THE PRACTICE GREENS ARE THE SAME SPEED AS THE ACTUAL ONES). Walk it off. The average around here is about 6.5 paces for me. Now I have a gauge. If a practice green is only rolling out 5 paces, then I know it is slower than normal. If it rolls out 7 paces, then they are fast. Add or subtract if it's uphill or downhill.

Don’t know if that makes sense, but ever since I started doing this, I’m MUCH more consistant on long putts.

This sounds like exactly what our league needs. We play a Stableford event every month. Great way to keep track of 24 golfers.
Thanks for the recommendation.

Thanks for the new rabbit hole haha

Just to throw you another curve, the VICE irons have great reviews.
Several other noteworthy companies that are under the radar:

New Level
Sub 70
Maxfli Irons
Ben Hogan Golf

New Level and Sub 70 are very highly regarded.
Yep, they're out there. Happy Hunting.

Ohio State has always been good. They almost never win less than 10. Probably the most consistent program in CFB.

And they have always had soft schedules. Who is their competition? That nail-biter against Grambling was impressive. Michigan? Penn State? Have you looked at the latest rankings? Seven SEC teams in the top 25 CFP rankings. Eight if you look at the AP poll. Go look at the SOS and SOR rankings. OSU down at 28. FOURTEEN SEC teams in the top 25 SOS. Not until Oregon and USC joined has the B10 actually gotten more competitive.
Indiana is a fluke.

Agreed. Three loses should never get in.

So.... Is a 10-2 team with a 30-something SOS better than a 10-3 team with an SOS of 6? SIX ranked teams on your schedule and you beat all but 2, and beat one of those in regular season IN ATHENS.
I HATE the Gumps, but I hate that everyone is glossy over a tough schedule.
James Madison is 12-1. Why aren't they ranked in the top 5? SCHEDULE.
Shut up.

How was your trip?
Which courses did you end up playing and what were your impressions? Always interested in getting an outside perspective.
You had a great initial list. If you played those courses, you had some good golf.

I did feel different before the houses. I guess you can’t stop “progress.” That area is the latest development boom. Independence and Hamlin area growth is crazy.

We already have Kick-Off Classics, why not take it up a notch? I like it.
