What is up with all the Hurricane BS?

I can't remember it being like the last few years ever. Maybe we didn't have the kind of advanced warning we do now, or maybe the population wasn't so much that people got jammed on the roads trying to leave. Whatever the case, nobody ever paid this much attention to them.
Meanwhile, LSU is playing in Gainesville on Saturday and flying right back into the hurricane after the game. I wouldn't even come to Gainesville if I were LSU. I'm not kidding or trolling.

Pat Robertson says it's God's wrath because too many homosexicals are making the buttsechs.

That would make 3 seasons in a row that LSU only played 11 games

It causes friction which in turn causes heat. Boom... Global warming explained.

This is normal.
What makes it feel weird, particularly for younger folk, is that Florida spent more than a decade without getting a hurricane.
While Florida has been hit with 117 hurricanes during the 60 years that such things have been reliably tracked, it had zero hurricanes from Wilma's landfall in October of 2005 until Irma made landfall this year.
What you think of as normal, because it likely was the rule for all of your lifespan as you remember it, is the historical abnormality.
A hurricane or two a year is normal.

I guess you're college aged? If so, then it probably seems like a lot.
The US has been in a time of low hurricane activity. Until this year, it had been 12 years since a major storm made landfall in the US - which was the longest gap in the 165 years that they've been keeping records. What you're seeing this year is really pretty normal.
Here's a story that talks about it. LINK

HAHAHAHAHAHA
No. Not even close to 2005.
There were so many storms that year NOAA ran out of names and started using the Greek alphabet.

My Dad was born in 1943 and lived in Palm Beach County his whole life and had never been through a decently strong hurricane until 2004. I guess maybe PBC has been lucky since the Palm Beach Hurricane of '29 killed 2,000 people in the Glades.

Ive been following this storm since it has about 100% chance of cancelling a fishing trip I have been planning for months. Right now it looks like its headed straight for Louisiana and bending west. I think gainesville will be OK. Maybe some rain. However Tallahassee is where FSU and Miami are playing and those bastages may drown.
Pisses me off cause where I go is about 20 miles south of tallahassee!

The last named storm formed on December 30th.(well named) That has got to be the latest a storm formed in the Atlantic basin.
