My favorite Herschel Walker quote came from an article in Sports Illustrated about a guy who set rushing records for high school football that held up for over 30 years.
At a Georgia practice the writer asked Herschel what he thought of him.
Herschel replied, "Ken Hall, what'd he do?"

That quote belongs to Vince Lombardi...

This one... OU used to house the US Postal Training Center On Campus... (They now have their own facility in Norman).... USPS people from all over the country came to OU to train.
There was a bookstore right off campus right next to the training center and they had shirts that said that exact same quote about Norman (and this was about the time Holtz got to Arkansas)....
The funny thing is that their were about four book stores on and and around campus... and the only one that sold those shirts was the one by the Postal Training Facility. Since it wasn't quite as funny to the locals.

Abe Lemons was full of great stuff
That's one more rebound than a dead guy. ~ Abe Lemons, after his center grabbed one rebound in the first half
I don't jog. If I die, I want to be sick. ~ Abe Lemons, on jogging
I told Bench once, 'If you had come with me, you could be the principal of a high school by now.' ~ Abe Lemons, on Major League Baseball Hall of Famer Johnny Bench, who Lemons once tried to recruit to Oklahoma City
Finish last in your league and they call you idiot. Finish last in medical school and they call you doctor. ~ Abe Lemons, on the challenge of coaching versus other professions
We went to Alaska once and they made us honorary Alaskans. Then we went to Hawaii and they made us honorary Hawaiians. We're going to the Virgin Islands this year. ~ Abe Lemons, on scheduling
When legendary basketball coach Abe Lemons inherited a moribund Texas program coming off its third straight losing campaign in 1976 and improved the previous year’s 9-17 record into a 13-13 mark, his five-season, $30,000 annual salary negotiated by athletic director Darrell Royal already looked like a pretty fair country bargain. Expectations were not exceptionally high based on the talent at hand. Abe, a wise-cracking, stogie-chomping Oklahoman who could match his boss in quotable quotes, had been asked early on at The Forty Acres if his team should be ranked in the top 20.
He answered with his own question.
“In the state?”

When long time athletic director for the University of Texas, Deloss Dodds, was asked about the challenge of 'keeping up with the Joneses' in a time of unprecedented spending on athletic facilities to get an edge in recruiting battles, Dodds replied,
"We don't keep up with the Joneses. We are the Joneses."

“Well you see, we had a quality want to be people, to be men who execute the football, execute with the football, at an extremely high level. We try to build out characters, build up character in these young men, but if you don’t have the chest, don’t bother coming to LSU. Have a GREAT day.”
