Foley is also responsible for the current state of UF’s sports facilities. He said that UF wouldn’t get into a facilities arms race when Bama, AU, aTm, and others started upgrading their stadiums;

Besides a National Championship, Nick Saban was a driving force in upgrading all of our sports facilities.

What he did for student athletes was remarkable.

Guess what.
If you want to compete, you’re gonna have to compete.

Sid....I know I’m preaching to the choir with you.

I can only imagine what Bama’s facilities looked like before Saban and what they look like now.

Not only about weight rooms.

That rumor had nothing to do with Foley, that was about Bernie Machen.

Then Foley had no backbone in not standing up to Machen. If he had truly wanted Spurrier back, he could have pushed for it and would’ve had 100% backing of the boosters and fans.

There was nothing to stand up to. It was a rumor and Spurrier shot it down. He's not exactly one to beat around the bush.

Spurrier certainly would have been supported had that been the direction they chose, but it is not as if the Meyer choice was forced upon anyone. Everyone was very excited about his pursuit.
