I can’t lie I’m unfamiliar with the situation
Is it guaranteed he goes back to Vandy or are there other options?

Back to Vandy unless he agrees to a much reduced signing number from the Mets (which he won't).
Only other option is him doing some sort of independent/international league for a year.
