I don't know how much you've been around, but just because there are a lot of Gump wannabees in Ark doesn't mean the university is poor. They have top notch facilities. There is a bunch of money in NWA.

I'm shocked Arkansas hasn't had more success in basketball. The success they are having in football and baseball does speak for itself. I'll give them that. But, in all honesty, I have always looked at and considered Arkansas as a "basketball" school - no flame either. I just naturally assume that they would be more of a national force than what they currently are.

I feel the same way about USCe. You think USCe recruits are better but I haven't seen any evidence of that on the field. In fact, a very good argument can be made that Arkansas has been faster, quicker, just as big as and more physical than USC over the years and the results speak for themselves.
Recruiting services are a lot like karate in that it gives people false hope and confidence. Karate has gotten more peoples asses kicked than probably any one thing just like recruiting services give fans false hope and confidence. And all this false hope is generated because some nobody, who probably never played beyond high school and certainly hasn’t coached at any level, anointed some player coming out of high school a tenth of a point higher than another player and rated them a “4-Star” instead of a “3-Star”.
Think about that for a moment. A person who is on the very low side of football experience and knowledge is able to grade one player over another to the tenth of a point? That’s laughable but what’s more pathetic is that many fans buy it hook, line and sinker. Recruiting services are in business to do one thing and on thing only, sell subscriptions and there’s a good reason college and pro coaches don’t use recruiting services. Think long and hard on that one and you will come up with the correct answer.
I have no idea how high USC’s recruiting classes have been ranked over the last few years, nor do I care, but I’m sure it’s much higher that Arkansas’. However, when the two meet this fall and that Hogs are gashing the Gamecocks once again, remember this post. No offense just an opinion.

My honest attempt at being objective when describing our program: We are capable of beating any team in any sport. We are headed in the right direction, but we have much work to do before claiming status as historic elites.
Other than that, Tyler Wilson is GOD, Knile Davis is JC, and my dad could beat up your dad.

Now I've only been alive 20 years, but I've loved my Hogs ever since I was 4. My opinion on Arkansas' athletic success can be summed up with "On the cusp."
Arkansas always seems to be just a little shove away from being elite. Look at 06, last year, and the year before in football. Look at 04, 06, 08, and last year in baseball. Basketball was dominant in the 90's, and looks to be on the up and up with Mike at the helm. Say what you want about the lack of success in mainstream sports, but Arkansas still has the second most natty titles in the SEC. Just because it's not on TV doesn't mean it's not played by athletes.
