Wrong. he was fired less than 2 weeks before EARLY signing day. And left us with a class in the 80s. He quit recruiting last season and he did it on purpose.

You finished 19th in recruiting last year.

If you meant 80th in this years rankings, well that's just dumb because I think Alabama was like 60 or so at that point last year. For next years class, Alabama doesn't even have a single recruit and isn't ranked at all right now. Only 35 teams are.

Harsin is a good coach. But recruiting top talent in Saban’s territory going to be tough.

No. I meant Malzahn's class was in the 80s when he was dismissed before early signing. Harsin salvaged the class and took it to 19.

If Auburn wants to keep him around for 9 years so he can match his best year of 12-2, that's cool with me.

Gene Chizik was 5-19 when he came to Auburn. Didn't stop him from winning every game on the schedule his 2nd season.

Think it had to do with recruiting and buying QBs?

Believe what? The class was ranked 80+ when he was fired. Fact.

Or do you mean this? Who salvaged it and took it to 19 then? Tommy Tuberville?

A Bama fan talking about buying QBs

How precious...

Call me when our QB recruits' entire families pick up and move from Hawaii to Buttfrick, AL.

That Gus had no hand in finishing #19 and that Harsin came in and did that. Many of the good recruits don't commit until signing day. Alabama has the #1 class right now, but still has like 8 spots open, not counting the extended numbers now.

In 2 weeks time on top of it.

No, if he was able to be such a great recruiter last year, what's the issue this year? Most Auburn fans claim it's because it's his first year, yet you claim he got a #19 class in 2 weeks last year.

AU signed 9 of its 19 recruits in the 2021 cycle after Malzahn was dismissed.

These recruits raised AU’s overall points on the 247 composite scale to 224, good for 19th place. Without them, they would have 156 points, good for a high 70s-low 80s ranking.

Harsin was hired on 12/22/20.

NSD was 2/3/21.

Shame on me for once thinking you were intelligent.

UFC's superstar QB, Gabriel has been out since September 17th. Not many teams would do well without a talent like that.

Gus could not recruit linemen and wide receivers because of the offense he ran. Roster management is very important in recruiting.

Gus NEVER beat a rival on the road in 8 years. Hars did it in year one and could go 3-1 on the road (beat USCe).

Gus caught lightening in a bottle in 2013 and we went to the NC game. After that 7 straight seasons with at least 4 losses.

Recruiting is a concern, but Hars did well in the transfer portal, in evaluating talent and in identifying weaknesses.

Like all coaches it takes a few years to judge. If he turns out to be a Mullen, then let’s worry.

That's correct. But he woefully neglected the OL, which is pretty damn important to SEC football.

And the rankings don't tell the whole story. Don't have time to look now, but I'm certain a lot of the players who made up those last couple of classes (2019 and 2020) are no longer a part of the team. What good are 4 and 5* players when they are playing at another school?

Yep. It's the same situation that UGA was in when Richt left. I've seen it discussed multiple times here about how the talent in the trenches just wasn't there despite the recruiting rankings. The transfer rules weren't the same back then, so that's just another layer thrown on top of poor OL recruiting.

This is a pretty bad take. Harsin is a decent coach and 50/50 may beat Bama in his first year. A&M has a good team this season. You should be proud of that and quit thinking about a team your team solidly beat.

Well, genius it's the 1st of November and he's taken the 2022 class, which was not very well addressed by Gus either from the 70s to the 30s and we still have over a month until early signing day and 3 months until signing day. This won't be a banner class, but again...what the frick does a top-10 class matter when the better recruits never touch the field?

Nowhere did I ever claim he was a great recruiter, I'm just pointing out he's not nearly as bad as some of you mental midgets make him out to be.

And if he can't recruit long-term? He will be dismissed and we will hire another coach. Pretty simple.
