I think what you meant to type was.. "Oh for the Love of God everyone knows Frank Broyles ran off enough great coaches to fill a small hall of fame!"

Eddie was a drunk! Was Holtz? Was Richardson? Was Hatfield? Was Blair?

I said Broyles was a legendary AD, and he was, but the man pissed away some of the best coaches in the game because he was a control freak. The one great success we had, track, was something he couldn't care less about other than making sure we had nice facilities.

Let me explain something to you... country mouse... Broyles deserves a lot of credit for what he did for Arkansas Athletics but he deserves his share of blame as well.

If you can't accept the good with the bad, well, there isn't a lot I can say to you that you will understand.

He had a reputation as a micromanager but some of those coaches we passed on would have put us on probation with the NCAA. I think he didn't want us to be another 80s SMU. Which is why I believe he went with the safer hires.

That one is not on Frank. At that time the men's and women's athletic departments were separate. Bev Lewis was the women's AD and hellbent on having a female coach, so she pretty much just let Gary go without a fight. He would have stayed had they just counter offered. As far as I know, his wife and kids still live in Fayetteville.

Your hate for Coach Broyles is shading your judgement.

No one cared more about our athletics than him and there were reasons these coaches left.Study it.

People also forget the damage that Chancellor John White did to the Razorbacks. He cut Broyles legs from under him.
Had he been 20 years younger Frank would have told John to go f' himself but he was old so he just headed to the golf course. Honestly, the best measure would have been for Broyles retire and for us to hire Terry Don Phillips.

Holtz - Jesse Helms

Hatfield - pressure from LR boosters due to losing Texas and bowl games. Hatfield was booed out of wms and had trash thrown on the field after the close loss to Texas in 87. Hatfield never fully gained support from lr boosters after that despite winning back to back SWC titles. Hatfield also refused to hire better assistants.

Blair? Educate yourself - as stated above the woman's AD was to blame there. The only blame that Frank gets is not overriding her and Chancellor White.

Nolan? Yes - this is the only area that you have a hint of accuracy. Broyles and Richardson were like gas and fire. Broyles deserves a ton of blame in that regard - his lack of support when the basketball program was dealing with the bullcrap NCAA investigation led to our eventual downfall.

holtz got into a pissing contest with booster AC freeman over his trying to buy a coors beer distributorship holtz was trying to buy and he chased two future all americans to OU and barry switzer.

richardson? "pay me my money and you can have this job" does that ring a bell?

hatfield has been fired from every job he's ever had since he was at arkansas, was it broyles fault that rice fired him?

and as already noted bev lewis ran off gary blair.

you need to keep your schit posting over on hogville were your mitch mustain man love boy crew ban all dissenting opinions!

Yeah, I'd agree. Just depends on how old you are now. I posted that on Hogville and I got ripped a new one for simply telling the truth. You might know, or you might not know how it is up there with Lanny Beavers running rough-shod over anyone who dare say a discouraging word (the stomp down truth) about certain UA icons.

Didn't Petrino get sent packing after doing basically the same thing. You'd think that in 2012 we'd be more open and tolerant in our thinking than in 1978, but this is not the case. Petrino would have eventually won an SEC Championship in football, likely the 2012 season when we had all of the returning talent that went 11-2 and skull drug one of Snyder's better KSU team in the Cotton Bowl. Oh well, what not only could but should have been. Jeff Long and Les Miles are exactly where they need to be, in football purgatory at KU. And our Hogs are about to have one of the biggest turnarounds in UA football history, especially when Malik (I can out run any cornerback in the SEC) Hornsby supplants Feleipe Franks as the starter later in the season at QB.

Totally agree. Hardly mentioned the '78 Final Four. Honestly they could have touched on his 1974 Creighton team more. They gave eventual runner-up Marquette their only home loss that year.

I would have enjoyed that also, but I think the filmmakers were OSU fans.
