OP poops on the new hire without him coaching his first game.

My only concern is that he will compete with recruiting machines in Bama, UGA and all the programs in the SEC. I dont know the situation at AU, but it would be wise to retain some of the asst coaches who have lots of contacts and know high school coaches.

He will need some time.

No doubt this could be his biggest challenge. If he decides to bring in his own peopel (And who could blame him if he does) they will need to be really good recruiters to make up for the lack of familiarity with the area.

I think he was a very good hire. He has turned so so players into good players at nothing school. Given the resources of Auburn backing him, he could be great.

He's not a big name but he's a good coach. Which do you believe is more important ?

The winning pct at Boise actually dropped during his 7 year tenure. From .913 ( previous 7 years) to .784.
AU win pct for last 7 years .629. A similar drop at AU would give them a .500 win pct. Just pure numbers, nothing personal.

Memo: college is not just about storming the field.
Auburn fans love Auburn because it's Auburn. Please refer to The Auburn Creed.

Some college fans love their schools due to football. And other fans, who have never stepped foot on campus, simply buy gear at Walmart or 7-11. They plaster the stickers and fly their flags when their selected team is winning. You know who you are,

It’s really embarrassing and sleazy that Bama fans do this type of stuff. Like clockwork, and it’s super easy to spot.

I've never understood the need to do it, but it's there...

The only other coach in the SEC west that had no name recognition to me is Sam Pittman, I had no idea who he was.

Just shows you don't actually follow the sport.

I'd heard of Harsin, too. But I'll agree that it's an underwhelming hire. He's made a lot of hay off the fields Peterson plowed.
