The origin of the term is correct. Ole Miss Professor Emeritus of History David Sansing wrote about it in his book 'The University of Mississippi: A Sesquicentennial History'. And he used "Ole Miss", not "Ole Missus". LINK
The yearbook name was adopted just 32 years after the end of the Civil War and the first volume was dedicated to the University Greys (Confederate regiment). Ole Miss was adopted as the school name two years later.

Read up on the 'Frankfurt School' and the 1966-67 Cultural Revolution in China. How did that turn out?

Will the song be banned from campus...last time I went there for a game I saw rebel flags where the rv's were parked...
When was the last time that ole miss won a national championship I doubt most people outside of oxford will really care what they call themselves...black bear and land shark just sound stupid....too most people and alums it will always be ole miss rebels...

Maybe so. But those reasons have nothing to do with eliminating a school because they have the name "Rebels". And if they do have a problem with it, they may find it more conducive to their needs to pick a school where they will be less likely to get their feelings hurt.

Ole Piss had to pay those players in those Recruiting classes, and those classes led to the NCAA delivering some sort of sanctions
In order for your shytty school to recruit at that level you have cheat much more than the normal cheating SEC Program

There is nothing wrong with The University of Mississippi. There is nothing wrong with Mudcats or Red Wolves. I would question Red Wolves simply because I am not aware of any ever being in the state. There is nothing wrong with Ole Miss or Rebels in my opinion. I believe that if you are offended by those terms that are part of this University then you probably shouldn't attend the University or have anything to do with it.
