So in the bizarre off-chance that all the favorites lose, the playoffs will be 4 1-loss teams, non of which won their conference championship.
Three will have lost in the championship, one didn't play for it.
The only realistic alternative based on ranking, is a 2 loss team (Bama), that also didn't play for it. I suppose Clemson could have a case if they win, being a 2 loss champ, but their ranking suggests otherwise.
The P5 champs would be 10-3 (LSU, KSU, Utah), all already out. And Purdue would be 9-4. Clemson, as stated, would be 11-2... UNC if they win 10-3.
Would make for a hell of a press conference, announcing the field.
